10-year-old steals SUV and joy rides; Caught in high speed chase

Michigan State Police say a 10-year-old has been lodged at the Saginaw County Juvenile Detention Center after stealing a Buick SUV from a home in Buena Vista.

Police say the vehicle was taken from a home on Hess Ave.

Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle on I-75 near Birch Run, but the driver did not pull over.

OnStar was able to disable the vehicle safely. The vehicle came to a stop after bumping into a guardrail causing minor damage.

The 10-year-old driving the SUV ran off from the vehicle and was taken into custody a short time later, according to MSP.
