If you think about it rdr1 and 2 is mainly centered around John (I know like 80%- 85% of rdr2 is Arthur’s story) rdr2 basically shows John and how he became the man he was in rdr1 even during the main campaign with Arthur you see John all the time going from a man who wants nothing with his wife Abigail and his son Jack to willing to die for them

Edit: also I see that people say that Jack had it the worst in my opinion I think John had it the worst he grew up in the gang having to watch both of his father figures die having his “brother” dead getting left behind by Dutch to die 2 times (the prison) and (our best selves)
In other words he saw it all the beginning of the gang to the end he had to kill 2 of his former brothers and at the end was killed after doing the dirty work Jack probably didn’t even remember half of what happened in rdr2 he probably thinks some of the people of the gang are still alive be honest do you remember much when you where 4 or 5 yes yes he is left alone and has no family yet but I still think John had it the worst

Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t just a game. Once you play it you feel it. You start to feel like the characters you play as and when they or any other beloved character in the game dies, it makes you ever so sad. Respect rockstar games, you truly have made the best video game series to ever exist

Rdr1 feels so sad compared to 2. Its just that rdr1 feels so sad, so empty. In rdr2 you played along the van der line gang but in rdr1 it's just you and John. Also the soundtrack has the feeling that the wild west is dying.

Its sad that the gang had to collapse but it made sense dutch was crazy from the beginning the only good quality was his charisma and the fact that he looked out for the gang

I like how they arent standing in random places, the places where they are standing (or sitting) holds significance. Arthur, Dutch and Hosea are in the Top-middle as they were the founders of the gang. Sadie and Charles are standing together as they made it out alive. Lenny and Sean are the youngest, and standing on the far ends. Bill and Javier are parallel as they are seen in the first game. Micah is alone, as he is the rat. And John is sitting in the middle with no explanation needed.
