I would be curious to see this comparison with the subject being the same size in the frame. Then we can accurately see the bokeh differences.

Thank you so much for this video. Great information. I was about to jump on the Fuji 33mm 1.4 with it being on sale, but I can't justify the purchase over the Viltrox. The bokeh on the Viltrox is more pleasing to my eye as well with a less pronounced outer edge. It really has a lot going for it.

I have the 33mm. Now I'm all convinced to get the Viltrox 27mm and sell the 33mm. Any good reason/usage worth taking into consideration to decide to keep it? 🤔🤔

Hi, curious if the viltrox and fuji sharpness on xt4 could be compared with the sony equivalent focal length in a7iv, I'm thinking of selling all my dslr to either buy sony or fuji. I like fuji color more than the sony, but they say ff is always sharper...

How would you compare the 90mm and the 75? If I were to choose 1 for street portraits

Really useful video! The viltrox completely negates the need for a 33mm 1.4 as you can simply crop in slightly!

Xing, have you compared the Fujifilm 23 F1.4 WR to the Fujifilm 18 F1.4 WR? Curious how you feel the two compare in terms of AF & IQ? Thank you so much.

You mean... The Viltrox's sharpness is better than the fujifilm original lenses. Right? I heard that the 33mm one is very sharp, but the result is very shocking.

Love your videos! Very useful. btw if you could only afford one of the lenses you showed which one would you pick?

Great post out of these 3 lenses which do you prefer and why?

Liu Xing, I find your videos very useful, especially because I care a lot about image sharpness (with faces). I've also found the Viltrox Pro lenses to be incredibly sharp and regularly sharper compared to my Fuji 1.4 lenses. Out of curiosity, have you ever tested the Sigma 23 1.4 DC DN? I'd be curious how you feel it compares in terms of AF & IQ (sharpness)

23mm looks sharpest and has the least CA. The viltrox you see a blue tint on the FUJI logo in most of the shots.

for casual walkaround shooting with bigger lenses such as the viltrox 75 do you recommend the xh2 for the grip despite the extra 100g? or should i go for the xt5 and use a handgrip? I heard it is not as good even with it though compared to the xh2

Have to remember that outside of editing and pixel peeping what will you or anyone viewing your pictures really notice? Most won't view an image for more than a couple of seconds. Far more important than pixel peeping. That said I dont agree in the first example the 33 showed more CA. It was clearly visible with the Viltrox in the writing on the lens in the in-focus area, which is far more distracting.

Owning all three and trying to decide which to keep, the relevant differences looking at the images in a nornal way are:

Bokeh character very different. 23 is nice when focussing close to the subject, but can be nervous when further away. 27 can get very swirly and bokeh balls very eliptical - almost to the point of distraction if you get both together, definitely a flaw but it adds character also. 33 has shallowest depth of field and most consistent, smooth bokeh across the frame.

27 is the least sharp by a significant amount at the minimum focus distance and wide apertures. You need to stop down to f2 to get the best results. But beyond f2, on fine details even sharper than the 23. The 33 has the best balance for portraits I find, even if a tad less sharp. For close up shots wide open, rhe 23 is definitely the way to go.

For video the 27 had really bad focus breathing. 33 and 23 comparable with almost no focus breathing.

27 has a colder rendering. Matter of preference I guess, but I prefer the warmer tones of the 33 and 23. Means more work in post for the 27.

27 struggles more with flare than the other two. A viltrox trademark. Honestly chromatic aberration doesn't bother me with any of them. Flare is more annoying and harder to correct.

In terms of actually using the lenses, the 27 has the least responsive AF, especially AF-C. It just can hunt when the others dont. Focus will also miss more often. Fine for posed shots, but not the best for candids and even a flower moving in a breeze can cause it problems.

The weight of the 27 is definitely noticeable compared to the other two, which also arent the smallest. For a body smaller than an x-h2 you definitely need a grip for the 27 - which adds more bulk and weight. I find it makes it more cumbersome to get out if my bags as it is just a lot snugger.

No Viktrox profiles for capture one.

I do like the 27. Its like a modern day Helios, a character lens. But its best used for purposeful portraits. For my use case - street and travel, documentary, candids, close up detail - I just dont feel I can rely on it like I can the other two. I can accept fewer hits if the keepers wow, and they do. But where its critical, I'm a bit more cautious and will almost always shoot on burst just in case and will have the 30 2.8 as a small back-up just in case.

Even though the 23mm had a big distance disadvantage it still outperformed the 33mm. 😄 That's similar to my findings, wide open the 33mm has a mild softness/haziness at the pixel level whereas the new 23mm & 56mm are both sharp at the pixel level. Maybe we both got bad copies of the 33mm. 🤔

First of all thank you for the video, what do you think about sigma 10-18?

In terms of color accuracy the Fujifilm lenses are unbeatable. Both, 23 + 33 produce almost the same colors. Which is important to me, at least...

I chose the V27 and V75 as my only prime lenses. Best P/P ever

Bought this Viltrox 27, and comparing with my Sony a7III + sony 35 1.8 would still choose Sony . Viltrox gives me more DOF only when subject close to your lens. Yes, boke is better but af isn't accurate in real life situations
