Hi Josh! Great video. I have two part time jobs and I love it. I love the variety because it keeps me from getting burnt out. One full time job isn't for everyone. You just keep doing you! Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Whitney Parchman

I have 5*30ft beds...have over wintering leeks, carrots and sprouting kale across 3 beds. Lifted the rest of carrots today...dug out the 2 year fine woodchip paths between a few empty beds. Used the composted chip on the beds and refilled the paths with chip delivery today. That's was my outside work today (about 1 HR)...I have a full-time job.

Clean beautifull farm and video, as usual. Happy new year.

Thank you for sharing what your week is like. I totally agree on the value of a clean farm. The other thing that I really like is that you have a ROUTINE. When there is so much variety of tasks as on a farm, having a routine is key to staying on task.

Yeah Josh, this is the 'down time' of the year. Pretty soon the sun will shine, shine, shine. You're at the perfect age to be out and actively working it. Yep, and the experience you're/you've gathered is invaluable.Keep on shining Mr. Whiskers... you're a cool daddy-o and a bad go-get 'er. Friend, bonnie ; )

Excellent break down, super interesting, super helpful. You mentioned time and YouTube and I thought that was funny because I think folks that don't post videos might not know how long it takes to throw together even a short simple video. I was guilty of thinking "how hard could it be?" a few years ago. Now I realize it takes me forever sometimes to put something together that was super basic. Either way I think your model here will become more and more common as more small local farms are started by folks with different backgrounds and income sources.

I recently left Raleigh to be close to family after NC being my home for 12 yrs we moved back to CT. We miss Raleigh so much and I enjoy seeing it in your videos. Love seeing family but I can’t wait to move back.

It’s so cool that you are able to balance two things that you love for work and still get to have a life. Something to aspire to!

I think what you mean to say Josh is that you work full time as a YouTuber but need content for people to watch and that’s why you farm. It’s ok and many other farmers are doing that actually.
I mean you probably make 100k+ from YouTube and a fraction of that number from farming.
Good luck, learning a lot from your videos!

Hey Josh. Thanks for this one and for your honesty. Would you consider making a longer in-depth number crunching video at some point? Now you are more of a winter guy, maybe when you take time off in the summer?
I too am part time, as a single parent and I think there is value in bringing commitments to work and family life.

If you have the figures, I would be fascinated to see how your books balance because I know that so called “crushing it!”, is not always an option when you factor in, the little people….
No pressure, if this does not fit your situation. Respect for what you are doing man!

Thank you for sharing! Work/money, it’s a balancing act. Finding the right mix to a fulfilling life and lifestyle is important. Too many people focus on only one. The right mix leads to your best life and a legacy that you, your family and friends can take joy and pride in. 😃 Lisa Bissett

Josh, how many years would you say it took you to get to this point? I’m going into my second year, and I’m rebuilding beds, adding beds, changing irrigation, and adjusting the layout of my 1/3rd acre garden. I don’t have any high tunnels yet, but I’ve built several low tunnels to continue growing throughout the winter. My hope is that once I get all this infrastructure work done there will be time to pursue other interests. Thanks for all the great content - you have made a huge impact on my farm. I’ve learned so much from your videos!

It is a lot of work, but an honest work none the less.

Not having animals is a HUGE time saver. Even when you have only a small amount of animals, they need care every day each day.. You can;t say: 'phew, I am wasted today, I'll do that tomorrow' with animals.
With plants you can can skip a day if that is convenient in your schedule.

Did I see Pooles diner behind you at the end of your drop off? That place is so good! I haven’t tried her pizza place next to it yet though

Very interesting video. I thought that it would take you more time. How much can you earn with 20 hours of farming? Really appreciate and admire what you are doing.

Great video! What state do you live in?
My family and I are moving to TN. From MT. I’m hoping to find a channel in close proximity so I can learn as much as possible. Thanks!
