Paula Dean helped me host my first ever holiday gathering way back about 16 years ago. I was a young 23 year old newlywed and was hell bent on hosting Thanksgiving that year. This was before YouTube. A unhealthy addiction to the food network and a Paula Dean cookbook were all I had going for me 😄 it was a success and I've hosted every year since!

Hey Paula! If you add bacon grease to your canned green beans it gets rid of the metal taste. I pour water and beans in pot, add 1 Tbsp of bacon grease per can and cook for 12 to 15 minutes in a rolling boil. If you like you can drain the beans. They will keep the bacon flavor. Happy cooking. Love your show.

You have the racks backwards in the GE oven. The curve up should be at the back of the oven. It prevents you from pulling the rack all the way out on accident. Hold the rack upward while putting the rack in with the curved part going in. It will make sense when you do it. Great Video!! Will make this Casserole! Thanks!

Paula I can see you struggling with that electric stove. Give me a glass stove any day Girl! Never thought about cooking the beans in chicken stock, I'll try that this year. Thank you Paula, Eddie and Theresa for all of you do to keep Miss Paula out there showing us how to do it! Happy Thanksgiving!

Original recipe calls for milk and worcestershire sauce, it's a little different. Looks great. It's what ever people were raised on. Enjoying this series Alot.👍❤️

I've been making it the same way every year for over 30 years. I use Campbell's Cream of Onion (most people use Cream of Mushroom), one cup of chicken stock (instead of water), garlic powder, onion powder, pepper and French's Fried Onions mixed in and placed on top. Simple, but the best.

I'm with you. I prefer this casserole with canned beans rather than fresh.

My mama is from Louisiana. I grew up in California and Hawaii. My oldest son loves green bean casserole. It's his must-have dish. I don't like it much myself. But my mom always made this and cornbread dressing and he loves both those.

This is an elevated version 😂. I have to tell you how we made it in south AL. Drain two cans of green beans...plop at bottom of casserole dish. Plop out a can of cream of mushroom soup... mix together with s&p and a little milk. Sprinkle on top with fried onions. Bake at 350 until bubbly. I like your recipe SO much better. Can't wait to try it this year. I will put the crunch on top

I love green bean casserole! The way you made it Paula is new to me and it looks delicious! I am with Eddie..I need the crunchy onions on the top!! You, Eddie and Theresa are the best! One can tell that you three are best of friends and truly love each other. And the lady that said Eddie's voice is so soothing and calming, is correct. Love you all! Happy Thanksgiving!!

Green bean casserole is my absolute favorite thanksgiving dish!

I sauté onion, garlic, and bacon in butter until translucent. When done, add cream of mushroom, bring to a boil, then add cubed velveeta and let it melt. Mix in green beans and fried onions, put in casserole dish, then top with more fried onions. My goodness it’s delicious! 🤤🤤

True about casseroles! At my first TG down here there was a broccoli casserole, a superb sweet potato casserole, a potato casserole(scalloped), (in addition to the mashed potatoes), a carrot casserole, and as close as one could get to a cranberry casserole with out actually putting mayo or sour cream into it and baking it ( a cranberry salad actually, so good!), a corn casserole, and of course the green bean casserole.
It's true, Yankees love this. My parents never served this, but there's been one at every Thanksgiving dinner I've been to or hosted since I was 21! Thanks for sharing!
