Mavic 2 Pro unless you're shooting a tv series

This is like comparing a Ferrari with a cheeseburger.

What the Inspire 2 does exceptionally well, is the fact you can A) mount super wide and telephoto lenses to get more creative shots and B) you can do extremely good dual-operator gimbal movements where you have control over all three axes (roll included). Those are its transformative qualities.

Up next: we compare the GoPro hero 7 to the Arri Alexa! What’s better?😂😂

It’s OUR fault for clicking on the video when we knew the answer already. Smh.

"That cinematic look that you will achieve, no matter what, because of the lens." Spoken like a true non-photographer.

I want that inspire drone with a machine gun on it, for recreational pourposes 😬

My opinion as a M2P owner having used the inspire:

The capability of the i2 as a professional tool is in a whole different ball game to the M2P; captures vastly more data and quality in its raw & pro res formats, interchangeable lenses with different focal lengths, dual remote setup, battery redundancy and self-heating etc etc. If you're a business and want a fully integrated flying camera setup which is still reasonably compact and that one person can operate if needed, the i2 has no competition from DJI or anyone else.

But on flight characteristics I'll actually give it to the M2P. It's got newer, probably more advanced software inside of it that makes it more stable (at low speeds & in hovering), more reliable and with better signal consistency and range in my experience (not that the i2 is bad in this regard and up wind its sheer power and heft makes it more stable than the small drones) and it's so convenient. I'm not a fan of its raw processing for stills (Phantom 4 pro with same sensor size is way better with raw stills out of camera) but the LOG 4k video is really, really nice for being so compressed and because of the stability and log-profile I prefer it to the phantom series as a video drone. I'd say the M2P is still good enough quality wise for simpler video work even for a business, as long as you don't require really complex camera movements or longer focal lengths in which case you'll feel limited by it.

If I owned the I2, I'd still always carry the M2P with me as a backup as the video files are certainly good enough to save my ass should something bad happen. :-)

You didn't mention other important features of the Inspire 2! I have both drones and each has its place. Both are great and depending on the situation, one gets used over the other. However, when it comes down to cinematic shots, lens options, frame rates, low light, higher dynamic range, speed, higher resolution, multi-controller etc the I2 easily wins. And sometimes, even though the M2 Pro might be sufficient, the Inspire gets pulled out when clients are writing checks and are on site for the film shoot. And many new clients have asked which drone I am flying. When I tell them the Inspire 2, I usually get the job...after they also review my demo reel. But for indoor flying, going through tunnels or tight places, I usually will use the Mavic 2 Pro. Thanks for the video.

I can’t understand why spend time to compare two different worlds: a travel drone with cinematic beast!!

This video's logic:

Should I get this 300K semi truck or a 30K cargo van?

I'm getting both. Mavic for jobs that don't really matter and Inspire for bigger jobs

I own both and totally agree with your conclusions. I do filming for NATGEO and Discovery channels and use both drones. The company I own has 74 drones 50 inspire 2’s and 24 Mavic pro v2.0. Seems like we are constantly upgrading but we make a ton of money doing what we do so having the best equipment is as important to me as having the best pilots and camera crew. The one thing I’d add is with the inspire 2 you can have a slave remote for a separate camera operator and the pilot only has to worry about flying. That is very important in sport mode as the anti collision is not active in sport mode. Good work on your review. Where can I get one of those sweaters?

I got both and honestly I’ll take my inspire to any day of the week.

I hated taking my inspire 1 around. I Would buckle it in to my seat, had to hold it sideways to walk in doors, could’ve t do tight spots etc.

Mavic series kicks ass!

Serious waste of time this review. There is absolutely no point comparing 'out of the box' etc. That is clearly going going to go to the Mavic. The review needs to focus much more on the difference in video quality above and beyond just calling it more 'cinematic' which really means different things to different people. There would be far more value if you were to compare data rates, capacity to colour grade footage, differences in DOF given the difference in sensor size etc etc. We all know that one drone is small, portable and cheap. We also know that the Inspire is far more expensive, larger etc. Why not focus on showing us what we may gain with the Inspire at the cost of these obvious disdvantages ? You have not done this at all, and writing this off by referring to yourself as "a self-proclaimed amateur drone pilot that's only been flying for a few months" doesn't cut the mustard. This is meant to be a shutter stock tutorial, not an amateur rant.
