Ash, you're such a sweetheart! I was just discussing this topic yesterday about my worry with a friend that recently came out to me about being trans (ftm). I didn't want to misgender him, yet he's made it pretty clear that he understands it takes time for others to adjust as well. I understand that this change is stressful for the individual, but it's nice to see that everyone recognises that is easier on all fronts to keep a level head about it, which will - in turn - make it easier for them (and others) to transition.

As someone lucky enough to only be on the other side of this equation, it's nice to know it's not world ending. On the same note, if someone does this to you and goes redfaced, it just means we're sorry for stepping on your toes.

Geeez, yeah, complex topic to talk about sometimes.
Funny anecdote: in my first ever furry meet up with fandom members (my "you're not alone" birth) I assumed someone's gender and misgendered him many times during two hours. We got on well, everything went right, days went on, I am told during a conversation that he identified himself as a...He (worth redundancy), and I was like Back then i was still confused and not settled about my feelings, but when I came out to the fandom as trans, he was one of the first I told and finally apologized officially for misgendering, concerned about not having talked earlier. Turns out, he didn't even have a single memory of that since my shy voice tone had been too low for him to notice, so he never had a clue of what happened.
And I'd been so worried about that 😂😂😂😂

I don't get misgendered in public, but I have been asked "Are you a boy, or a girl?" Me simply answering "Oh, I'm a guy" I'm Ftm.

90% of the time it's just when you're early in transition and the person just needs time to adjust or it's a slip. For the 10%, yeah HR and blocking people is a thing.

Personally I don't really care what gender people call me or refer to me as - I don't feel it matters to me, so I just roll with whatever is said.

I Totally Screwed that up myself.. completely by accident and had to apologize. its hard with some people because in my incident the person fit in with there male gender identity I didn't realize he was actually she and I stuffed my big fat bunny foot in my mouth saying to him that the mens bathroom was open. it was a unisex restroom where I live and was immediately told thank you but im not transitioned enough yet for that bathroom.

it happens and he was nice about it. just remember some people take it differently then others.
