Beyoncé fired back at critics who slammed her over her performance at the Country Music Awards. Dr. Rashad Richey and Dina Sayegh Doll discuss on Indisputable. Tell us what you think in the comments below.

"Beyoncé has revealed that her next album, “Cowboy Carter,” is a direct response to critics who thought they could gatekeep her from having an impact on the country music genre.

She released the project’s first two singles, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” in February, renewing critics’ disdain for her exploration into the genre and, for many others, generating excitement over her new sound.

The Houston, Texas, native first stirred backlash for her country dabbling in 2016 when she performed “Daddy Lessons” from her album “Lemonade” with The Chicks, who were then known as The Dixie Chicks, at the Country Music Awards."

I’m a black woman born in 1960. My mother was born in 1928. She talked about sitting around the radio and listening to the Carter Sisters. We watched Hee Haw every Saturday. Me my mom my dad and brother and sister were country before B was born. We have always been country!

We've been singing country before the ignorant critics were born. Yes, that long ago. Be informed!

John Schneider the guy from the show dukes of Hazzard doesn't think Beyonce should sing country.. He's from NY. Imagine a New Yorker telling a Texan she should be singing country. She's from Texas.

I don't understand why the bigots are so upset. If they don't like Beyonce, they can just not listen to her music. I think there is so much more to get upset about these days.

First it was blues, then jazz and rock and roll. There will come a time when people will laugh when you tell them African Americans created rap music.

Racism prevents humanity from simply figuring out, just how to get along with one another.🖐🏼

I'm so over gatekeeping. It's 2024. There's room for everyone. Beyonce doesn't need anyone's permission to do anything.
