When I was a kid, the trailer for this movie played nonstop on MTV. One of the trailers included the line in this clip: "we have to make your hair longer--men like something they can GRAB onto". It played over and over. Men like something they can GRAB onto. We need to make your hair longer. Men like something they can GRAB onto.

I was 12 when this movie came out. I'm 25 now, and I still hear that fucking line when I go and get my haircut.

If a woman wants to get a guy into bed on their first/second date then listen to everything the guy is saying. As for long term relationship, everything he say's is BS because it will lead to a break up extremely quickly.

If you change the background music, that man’s dialogue would be perfect for an over-the-top villain. It’s true that men are fascinated, borderline obsessed with sex, but that doesn’t mean we don’t care about women as people too. Some of the things he’s saying feels uncomfortable even to speak or hear, even for comedic exaggeration.

I'm confused...she thought "Knocked Up" was sexist, but this insanity she was fine with? cool cool cool.

Katherine Heigl is a great actress, one of the very best of our generation. I don’t know what she’s like as a person, I’ve never met her, but I am always cautious to accept when the media says that “so-and-so is bad and this is why.” They were mad at her because she broke a code of honor (or possibly, dishonor) among her peers in the entertainment industry. It’s actually in their contracts, to be very careful about what they say about a film or TV show they’ve worked in, at least until the production has been released and the box office had their run. In other words, until they’ve got most of the money in. After that, it doesn’t matter as much, but just be tight-lipped when the film is new and people are still paying tickets to see it. She made a mistake and said about this film that it was “a little bit sexist.” But I’m not bound by contracts, and I can say that it was more than “a little bit.” Perhaps it was unintentional, but it was the writer’s fault than it was hers. She shouldn’t have been thrown under the rails for that. She also wouldn’t accept a nomination for an Emmy on another show because the writing for her character was not really that fantastic. And she was right. She’s not afraid to tread on a few toes if there’s something about the production she don’t agree with, something that’s ethically questionable, and I admire her for that. Her profession could do well with more honesty. Tact is necessary, but so is Honesty. Otherwise, the industry could return to the abuses of past decades, and no one really wants that.

Sad that Katherine got exploited in most of her movies. They made her do unnecessary perverse scenes for men's pleasure in this movie. She was always portrayed like a blonde toy for men. I'm glad she stood up against Seth Rogen and his bs. Seth is terrible at acting and his movies are not just sexist but also boring. I'm sure he could do better than what he did. And James Franco the creep is sick to the core. Katherine was right about Grey's too. She never really had a meaty role in that show. Just the pretty girl with a past in lingerie modelling.

Just as an fyi, the point of the movie is ultimately that these tactics are stupid and faking your way into a relationship isn't really what you should do. No need to take one earlier scene in a movie (that the movie later rejects) and extrapolate what the entire movie is saying. (...Not that the movie itself is exactly the epitome of culture and class overall. It's not.)

Ironically, all his points are perfectly true ... for when you're desperately trying to be with someone, and that someone is some cliché-ridden macho from a 90s hip hop video.

I never realized how aggressive the sales lady was being, like when they're talking about jeans and she lifts up his jacket to look at his ass.

That's why the name is the Ugly truth. No one wants to say it, but men don't approach a woman dressed like nuns. Most women are saying "be yourself" in the comments, but most of them can't even sleep without makeup
