The US Supreme Court hinted at support for a Colorado website designer who says she has a constitutional right to create websites only for opposite-sex weddings in a high-stakes clash that pits equality against free speech.

Hearing arguments for more than two hours in Washington Monday, the court’s conservatives suggested they would carve out what some of them characterized as a narrow exemption from anti-discrimination laws for businesses that engage in expressive activities.

I'm at a loss for words. I've been having the "same sex" in my marriage for years 🤣

I’m for same sex marriage and for this designer. Go figure. If the designer doesn’t want to make this website… go find someone else.

So a private business owner is being raked over the coals because they don’t want to provide a service to somebody that they don’t approve of or don’t like. Why is this even an issue? It’s not as if the business owner is causing physical harm or mental distress to customers if they choose not to serve.
If people can’t deal with rejection and we’re gonna have a very hard time in a country full of so many different types of people. Get some thicker skin and go take your business elsewhere.

Great news! Fighting back against a minority group that bullies fear into getting their way.

I hope the court ruled in her favor. She has every right to pick and choose who she wants to have as a customer and go work for.

Nobody's rights can superspeed another in this country. If she didn't want to make the webpage, she shouldn't have to and she doesn't even need a reason. There are thousands of web designers, pick a different one.

Your business, your choice. There are plenty of web designers within their immediate calling circles anyway. Still they actively seek out businesses that they probably know would push back on the idea of same sex marriage just so that they could sue them into conformity. I personally got no problem with same sex anything, but I certainly respect those with different opinions.

So you are saying the Supreme Court is making decisions based on the Constitution and not the feelings of people who want to force others to compromise their beliefs? Oh, God, no!

As it should be. We all know what would happen if I walked into a gay cake shop wearing my MAGA hat and Trump 2024 shirt and told them to make me a cake that says Straight White Conservative Pride, Trump 2024.
Id probably have to physically fight them.

As if there aren’t many other wedding website designers available who share the same views and beliefs as the couple in this case… this is so petty and really shows that even artistic expression is under attack by those who feel the need to push their beliefs on others and make them accept those beliefs as truth.

Good- it’s immoral and wicked to force people to accept your homosexuality.

Colorado AG argues, "a business open to the public cannot deny service for being who you are."

Is this an "anti-discrimination" case or "pro-gay" legislation? Does the law apply equally to all or just the LGBTQ?

Can people who are not gay be discriminated for not being gay? Can people who are not black be discriminated?

Is this another "affirmative action" to discriminate against a certain group to benefit another group?

Seems LGBTQ and Colorado AG wants their cake and eat it too.

She, like every American, has a right to operate her private business as she sees fit.

I have a few gay friends. They all said ok whatever it's their business. We will take our money somewhere else.

Why would you want a person who doesn't want to work for you, work for you. Unless you are a dictator type of a person who wishes to force your beliefs on another.

Her decision not to do the site would be appalling if she had a monopoly on websites. But, websites are literally just words. Learn the language yourself or find another developer. The equivalent to this would be trying to force a ghostwriter to write you a book or a song. No means no.

To force someone to go against their beliefs just isn't America.

It happen already here in CO with the cake maker. The court sided with him as they should have & should side with the designer as well. The problem is until they fix the law it’s just gonna keep happening. How hard is it to just find another vendor if one turns you down based on their beliefs? These people think the world owes them something & act like it’s their duty to challenge anyone who doesn’t agree with them. The entitlement is sickening!
