NASA performed a hot fire test of an RS-25 engine at Stennis Space Center in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, on 18 August 2016. Four RS-25 engines will power the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket core stage to propel the Orion spacecraft to deep space destinations.The 7.5-minute test is part of a series of tests designed to put the upgraded former Space Shuttle engines through the rigorous temperature and pressure conditions they will experience during a launch.
