Something tells me TCL is going to pack a hell of a punch with their 2023 lineup. I also feel Hisense is going to hit hard too.

Video missed two TV's, though neither of them were on the show floor. There's the TCL QM8 "3x5" which they announced during their press conference. It has 5000 dimming zones and 3000nits peak brightness, this is their TV designed to fight Hisense's UX. No size was confirmed and there might've been an implication that it's not just one size because it said "up to 5000" which is normally what you'd say if there were smaller sizes with less, the inverse of Hisense who says "1000+" implying their smallest model in that line starts at 1000 or around there and it goes up with size. And the second TV was announced kind of haphazardly online which is TCL's first QD-OLED. Their IJP-OLED isn't doing so great on the production side, but they wanted to get into OLED this year so they're buying QD-OLED panels from Samsung which more or less achieve the same result as their IJP-OLED. Both of these TV's are coming in the second half of the year.

TCL Q7 is very impressive for it's technology point. It actually over achieves it's price point. Probably the best budget TV on the market for 599.99. It competes with the Hisense U7K which is a mini dot tv. The U7K is listed at 649.99 at this time and to me just edges out the Q7 due to it's advanced technology in processing and dimming zones...Both tv's are great buys and you wont be disappointed at all if you get a good calibration run on them...

A 98 inch mini led sounds absolutely incredible. I would consider it even though I just bought a Samsung qn90b 85 inch. That 98 would be massive!

KG, you have some great video footage at TCL.

I snagged two 65" Q7's for $700 a piece for prime day... I'm sorry but you just can't beat that price to performance right now. People forget that newer technology makes these QLED's looks almost if not the same as mini-LED TVs... not worth an extra $500, which the QM8 65" is selling for $1200 a piece right now for prime day.

Should we get 2023 flagship TCL or Hisense or wait for flagship 2024 models? Anything going on with Vizio?

This CES 2023 TV lineup is insane. So many TV models to choose from. Amazing!

They need to focus on their 32" 4K OLED monitor they showed at CES 2023... that one looked gorgeous! I don't mind spending a pretty penny for it as long as it checks all the right specs!

So the successor to TCL’s 6 series is the QM8, but with no 55” size, and at a much higher price? Thought the R655’s successor would be the Q7, but the former is mini-led, but the latter isn’t.

Guess I’ll be jumping ship to Hisense this year. The U8K offers so much more than the Q7, will most likely be much cheaper than the QM8, AND it has a 55” version. Btw, for what TCL is asking for the QM8, I would much rather buy a Samsung or Sony.

And for TCL to remove a feature - in this case, mini-led - that was on their mid-level TVs for the past 2 years, just to attempt to hype demand for their new “flagship” model is AFAIC, doing a serious disservice to their loyal customers. 🤨

Does the QM8 have 2.1 across all 4 ports?

TCl say they want to be premium, but they never release their higher quality stuff in the US. Like the updated 8 series for the last 2 years or od zero/od zero on glass of years past or have a 10, 000 price tag that no one would pay. There are too many things they have at CES become vaporware. Qm8 looks like the 8 series they said they would release last year. Didn't they also have 5000 dimming zone tv that they might release? It would be nice if they released qd oled to help drive down the cost of sumsung and sony qd oled. Which are the tv's I'm looking forward to. Sorry for the rant

From what I've seen the prices have gone way up. My sister wants one comparable price wise to my 2022 model, 55s555, but the 2023 model is bit more expensive and doesn't have local dimming. She'd have to go up to the Q7 model and it's $230 more than last years.

That QM8 is going to be a beast @ 3000nits but I hear it's a few thousand or more depending on size.
QM8 series
65-inch MSRP $1, 699.99
75-inch MSRP $2, 299.99
85-inch MSRP $2, 799.99
98-inch MSRP $9, 99.99
