I suffered from serotonin syndrome and had to be taken to emergency…so scary, my heart was beating so fast and I couldn’t stop shaking. Was so reassuring to be under medical supervision until it subsided. Needless to say SSRI’s aren’t for me!

I did not take a "super high dose" nor did I "overdose" on a medication with Serotonin in it and I got a life-threatening case of Serotonin Syndrome. I simply made a switch from one antidepressant to another and within a few days, I was seizing so badly I couldn't breathe and ended up on a ventilator and put into an induced coma, then had no memory for several days following. Trust me, a normal dose can put you into Serotonin Syndrome. You're never the same once you get it, which doctors need to believe and understand. You can no longer take any medications that increase Serotonin nor can you take some supplements or eat certain foods that increase Serotonin. Your life changes. I was left with facial twitching and tremors and the total inability to ingest anything that may raise my Serotonin and I was completely healthy prior to getting Serotonin Syndrome.

When I told my doctor about these severe symptoms, she told me to KEEP TAKING THE MEDICATION BUT TO SEE A THERAPIST.
I was flabbergasted to say the least. Can’t even find a doctor to help me. They won’t even let me finish talking about what I’m dealing with, before they scribe a script for an antidepressant and leave the room to get to the next patient. I give up.

September 18, 2022 is my second birthday. My symptoms lasted for 20 hours, I passed out countless times, I was shaking UNCONTROLLABLE, I had diarrhea, my heart wanted to jump out, but at the same time I couldn't stand on my feet. When I was conscious I prayed to God to forgive my sins if this is the time for me to leave. After everything, they told me in the emergency room that it was a panic attack, countless infusions, because I was in two hospitals. I knew it wasn't because I was passing out all day. I was on anti-depressants and migraine medication, both of which have high doses of serotonin. I thank God for a second chance, and I am afraid of the incompetence of our doctors. 18.09. is the date of my patron saint and I know who saved my life then. Since then, I've been fighting and struggling with panic attacks, but that day was not one of them.

I’m taking Prozac with buspar thanks for this! I have severe anxiety this is something to think about and to be aware of definitely don’t want serotonin syndrome it doesn’t sound good at all

Had serotonin syndrome when overdosed on mdma. I remember that palms of my hands where shaking so much I couldn't see them. Also I had painful full body convulsions - I really thought one more and I will die. I was sweating a lot and I mean there were waterfalls coming off of me. Barely survived. Couldn't sleep and had hallucinations a week ahead. Forever damaged my mental and physical health:(

I had this problem when taking lovan for 28 years, and my psychiatrist told me that it wasn't Serotonin Syndrome.
It was actually my GP that found it in me.

I have irregular heartbeat from my Paxil medication, this just made me very anxious.

I had horrible symptoms of this and went to my doctor, she said it was anxiety but the symptoms were so severe, resting heart rate of 180, spasms, being completely freezing cold to boiling hot and sweating, constant shivers, diarrhea, paranoia. went to the ER and they gave me a Xanax which helped, eventually symptoms went away. Really scary stuff, especially the intense panic attacks

My dad takes lots of serotonin medication and today he mixed it with methylene blue like a dumbass, I told him not to. Now he's in the hospital almost had a heart attack

I think I might have this right now, tho not severe. I’m taking antidepressants, but recently I have to take 2 pills of tramadol for my not subsiding menstrual cramps. I didn’t know they’re not supposed to be taken together.. so now I’m feeling really under the weather. I vomit everything I eat, so I end up not eating anything.. and my head hurts, everytime I move my head, I feel dizzy and light-headed. I cant’t walk straight either..
