This crochet baby hat is quick and easy to make. It has a great texture which is achieved by working the Piqué Stitch, which is a special type of cluster stitch.

The hat is offered in three different sizes: newborn, 0 – 3 months and 3 – 6 months. The instructions are the same for all three sizes - all you need to do is change the hook size:
Newborn: Use a G (4mm) hook
0 – 3 months: Use a Size 7 (4.5mm) hook
3 – 6 months: Use a H (5mm) hook

The finished measurements for the hat are:
Newborn: W – 6” (15cm) x L – 5” (13cm)
0 – 3 months: W – 6.5 (16cm) x L – 5.5” (14cm)
3 – 6 months: W – 7” (17.5cm) x L – 6” (15cm)

This is an easy crochet tutorial and I’ll show you what to do step by step. You will need to be familiar with the following stitches:
ch(s) - chain(s)
dc - double crochet
sc - single crochet
sk - skip
sl st - slip stitch
SPcl – special cluster (this is shown step by step in the video)
st(s) - stitch(es)

This is the third project I have completed from your tutorials and I am completely blind, so you can say that your videos are so clearly explained that you can quite literally follow them with your eyes closed.

My daughter in law is expecting my first grandbaby and she asked me to make booties and a hat. I'm so honored but I said let me check youtube..." because I have no idea how to make anything except a simple v-stitch blanket. Your videos have made this possible. Thank you so much!

This is one of the best tutorials I've ever seen. You explain everything so calm and your camera angle is so good. I haven't crocheted much before but am confident I can do it with this tutorial. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for taking things slowly and precisely. Never in 9 decades have I managed to follow a crochet tutorial so easily! I’ll be back for more lessons. ❤

Your tutorials have been a huge help to me - thank you. I made four different baby booties before I discovered your ‘version’. You just make everything so much simpler! I’m sure some of these fancy stitches look lovely (when done properly), but when you’re just beginning to crochet you really do just want simple stitches that make something just as beautiful.
I’ve only been crocheting for a month but thanks to your easy to follow (&understand!) tutorials, I’ve already made baby bootees, prem baby booties, two baby blankets & this hat.
My friend is 28 weeks pregnant with a very special baby. She will be delivered early, a week before Christmas, so I’m making these things for her.
I honestly think that if I hadn’t found you….I would have give up!! ❤️

Bless you for this tutorial. I am a very visual learner and have struggled for decades to learn how to crochet. Thanks to you, I will be using this to learn how to make very small baby hats and donate them to hospitals for people to have something for their babies who passed on. If their lost child has nothing else, I want them to have a handmade item so their family has something for them to wear instead of just a hospital blanket.

You are wonderful with your instructions, so clear and not rushed, and your demonstration as to where to insert the needle and the visual instruction is absolutely wonderful and easy to follow and understand. I'm a beginner, and this is a great tutorial, actually the best. I was about to give up. So glad I found you. Thank you!

Thank you, Amanda. You are such a good teacher. Your instructions are clear and I love how you present them without unnecessary conversation. The background music is pleasant and doesn't intrude the learning.
I completed a cardigan and booties, and will start the baby hat soon.
