Perhaps the next step-up from Apple's driverless car testing grounds could be this 15 mile stretch of New Mexico desert. The area is the future location for CITE, or The Center for Innovation Testing and Evaluation. The $1 Billion project is set to begin in 2016, to be developed by Pegasus Global Holdings.

Produced by Rob Ludacer. Original Reporting by Madison Malone Kircher.

A test city, an underground lab. Sounds a heck of alot like Raccoon City from Resident Evil to me.

So they could finish this in 2018 but it takes construction workers 87 years and 19 days to finish remaking roads smh

I worked with a guy that was in the marines. He said they had model towns to teach them how to invade urban areas and cities.

The entire state of NM has a homeless population of under 4k. This city is built to house 35k. Noone sees a moral issue with this?

This project has yet to be realized. This is December 2020.

As of 2019 has anyone from New Mexico ever driven by this site? We have so many unfinished projects here it's absurd. I highly doubt this even Just maybe the 1 billion spent for nothing. Same concept as The ART project EX- Mayor Mr. Richard Berry thought so highly of. He wasted tons of NM tax payers money for crap we can't even

Yes.. lets build a billion dollar city in the middle of the desert that can house 35 thousand people, and not let anyone live there, even though there are homeless vets dying in the streets everyday. ONLY IN MURICA.

This is part of the places elite will run too to avoid the apocalyptic event on the surface when the great reset is being completed.

Most people in the comments believe this is a dumb idea; however, they do not see the benefits. For companies to test their products, such as driving vehicles, they need to gain a lot of government approval which take a long time. With a city like this, they can test their products without government regulations and approval before taking them to test in real cities
