How do you wear hearing aids? Wearing hearing aids is so much more than putting a device in your ear! You need the right specialist to assess your hearing, measure your hearing loss, recommend a product, then you need to select one programmed to your needs. Hearing aids are incredible devices that can help people feel included in conversations, foster strong emotional and social relationships, they can also help fight early onset dementia. If you think you need hearing aids, you definitely need to get your hearing checked. You don’t know what you don’t hear. Ignorance can be bliss but it can also be lonely. Hearing aids can help you hear better and you can still sleep well at night when you take them out to sleep!

I hope this video helps share how to wear a hearing aid. Is there anything I missed? Share in the comments! ➥ Follow Me

The sound of my hair moving is driving me crazy 🤪 it sounds like styrofoam. I’ve been told I’ll get use to it. The hardest thing for me is coming to terms with my hearing loss. The best thing about the hearing aids is being able to actually enjoy conversations with my family ❤

Thanks for the great video! I got my first pair of Hearing Aids a little over a year ago for Moderate/Moderate Severe Sensorineural HL. I loved them immediately! I was already through a big part of the emotional acceptance of having a Hearing Loss so I embraced them right away. I quickly learned that there are a million sounds that I haven't heard in decades and it was going to take some time to adjust to hearing them again. I meditate daily and it helps with the overwhelming feelings that come up as I'm still discovering new sounds every day. Your videos help so much. Thanks so much for the encouragement and for advocating for our community. Looking forward to more video's. I missed you!

Hi Emily💗you just about covered everything, what I would say is different countries have different ways of letting you have hearing aids, here in the UK ours are free along with batteries! But we only get BTE hearing aids! None of the invisible ones etc, we get loaned them for the rest of our lives! And we get follow up appointments, but they take some getting used too, some sounds are too loud etc! And the worst thing is hearing fatigue trying to lip read too! But you must not give up wearing them even if you feel they are not helping! And don't let non deaf people make fun of you! Being deaf is no different to having a sight issue & needing glasses or having wonky teeth & needing braces! I have missed Emily & her love for hearing aids! Maybe Emily you could do a video on your thoughts on cochlear implants & whether offered them you would take them! A silent world can be very lonely 😭but thankfully there are nice people on here! Have a happy 2023 💖💖💖💖

Hi! New aids this week. 1st pair. Overwhelming sounds when I first tried them. Had to go to work in a noisey environment the first week I wore them. Was challenging to embrace new sounds. My voice sounded amplified to me and at times I felt like I was in an empty fish bowl with sounds echoing back to me. I believe these new sound are a normal experience of wearing aids for the first time.
I’m keeping a diary and will share my experiences with my audiologist. My aids are rechargeable phonak.
I do wonder if wearing long hair up is better for hearing aid sounds,

Glad to see a new video. You videos are well thought out and informative. I received hearing aids for the first time in April 2022, and I found your channel shortly after. Your videos have been a big help getting adjusted to hearing aids. I lost my hearing over a decade ago due to occupational exposure. It is a big adjustment hearing sounds you have not heard in a long time. I was looking at getting the OTC hearing aids, when I found out about a program from Texas Workforce Commission. They will supply hearing aids to people with hearing loss to help retain employment, or to find employment. Without that program, I probably would not have been able to afford hearing aids.
