Timbo's drums are VERY dry. They almost have zero booming to their bass, its a thump. Thats why you hear that "THUMP. THUMP. THUMP. THUMP. THATS HOW LONG IVE BEEN ON YA" Sounding so crisp even the heavy instruments and electronic pieces.

Timbaland mixes his kicks in a way that are empty, yet they dont lose their impact. That way when it's mixed and mastered, you hear that crispy edge to it without muddying up the mid and highs.

Swiss and pharrell have BOOMING bass production. Thats why Timbalands drums are so crazy. They're almost tinny sounding when you hear it in a vacuum, like they're in a tin can. Yet when you mesh it into a heavy, bass swamped track, it just flows so amazing. 👌
