*Needed a cooler for a work cubicle **Fastly.Cool** . It did just what I needed, so easy to used and really cooled the space. I am glad that I got it and would buy it again.*

I am in the coffee business for 20 years, and we use Peltier cooling for the syrup instant coffee dispensed in our machines. What Cyprian Guerra says is absolutely correct. There are several problems here:

1) In such a cabinet, it will not cool a room, because Peltier cooling generates heat on the back side, and it is the heat that needs to be vented away, or else the Peltier element will burn out quickly. It would require a bigger (6 times larger) heat-sink than the one he uses, and a fan 2 to 4 times larger than the fan he uses on the back. It would need to be mounted in a window or other specially-made opening, with a heat-sink and fan on the backside to vent the heat away from the element.

2) He lies when he uses the words "surrounding " or "ambient" temperature. No room, would heat up that fast, and if it had gone so quickly from 30+ degrees to 10 degrees, he'd have put a coat on very quickly. The thermometer must have been mounted somewhere on the front, probably behind the display itself, so he was not measuring the temperature of the surrounding air, but the temperature of the face of the Peltier element itself. A very small chamber on our coffee machines where the liquid instant coffee is held, takes 4 to six hours to reach 5 degrees, and that is only sufficient for 3 litres of syrup, in a closed, insulated box. To cool a room of 30+ degrees down to 10 degrees would likely take 24 hours or more, and only if the room was lined with cork or some other insulating material, or the coolness would dissipate through the walls before the room could cool.

3) Finally, a Peltier element uses quite a bit of electricity, and would not be economical for such a use, or else you would see mass-marketing of Peltier air-co units world-wide. Peltier elements are also not cheap. The device as he shows here, would burn up in a matter of days (or hours) from improper dispersal of heat, the most common cause of breakdown in the field is either from dusty fans that become blocked, or if the machine is placed against the wall, so that the fan can't get rid of the generated heat. It's simple thermodynamics that you can't cool without generating heat, as actually you are not creating cold air, you are venting hot air to cool the desired area.

I have used them with picnic cooling boxes in my car, plugged into the cigarette lighter with an adaptor, to keep my lunch cold while in the field doing repairs all day long in the summer.

#1. You should have used a heatsink on the cooling side too.
#2. The thermostat sensor should be placed on the Air-Outlet to get the actual temperature of air flowing out of the Air-condition.
Thanks👍

Nice looking product. I especially like the temp display and the massive heat sink. Earlier today I couldn't find the tall square ss pipe i was looking for but found an aluminum one shaped very much like yours.

great AC and the best looking I've seen so far. For better efficiency, you should add a heat sink to the cold side so the air can flow over it inside the Box.

The sound reminds me of two things.. a vacuum cleaner and a jet airliner.

You turn the device upside down when winter comes :D

This is a great idea thanks ! I need to cool down a 5x10' darkroom. This just might work or maybe 2 of them. Don't pay attention to the Monday morning quaterbacks.

the temperature indicator is merely showing the Peltier temperature, not the ambient temperature。 it does not make sense to use Peltier to cool the surrounding, this is the very inefficient device anyway, you have a done a nice job of creating this cooling device。

good idea! you must find a way to install the switch outside the box so it will not cause moisture inside the switch, just to be careful.

Actually I ran my peltier module on 12v 2amp adapter and it works and makes the peltier cool and hot but after 2 to 3 minutes the 12v 2amp adapter starts it's indicator light to turn off and then on after some time. So, is there any solution for this problem or should I have to use a bigger ampere power source or something else?

excellent concept but a bit noisy. Also you appear to be reading the temperature inside the box while a reading at the outlet of the box would be more appropriate. How much power do you use. I hear peltier are only around 5% efficient.

I am trying to set up a peltier 12706, supplying power from a 12 Volt, 6 Amp transformer rectifying & filtering it into 12 V DC. At first the heat sinks on the hot side is heating up and cold side is cooling respectively. A few minutes later the cold side is also heating up. How to rectify this?

Simple and easy, like that! How long you can power this? Eeach peltier takes about 10A plus fan its maybe about 25A total. The accu look like close 20Ah which means it runs for less an hour or maybe 30min?

temperature sensore at air outflow and further into the room would be good. For me i would add some insulation in the box or under the box (outside) to reduce the fan noise. I don't think my neighbors would like that sound. I wonder if a duct reducer is on the outside, and using a bigger fan would also work. i think i would prefer using a larger quieter fan, like 120mm or 140mm.

Can we use Peltair Module to cool down the cooler water tank water temperature. Is this possible

Instead of using heatsink for peltier, inside, couldn't you use a radiator with closed freon circuit or cooler liquid for car? PLease reply, thx!
