I think many people don’t realize that laughter doesn’t always equal happiness. Our brains want to be as neutral as possible, so sometimes people will laugh when they’re upset or uncomfortable, the same way people will cry tears of joy. It cancels out a negative with a positive, or vice versa. I feel this could be true for tickling as well.
