I always used to feel bad that I couldn't keep my house clean. I'd play it off that I was a "naturally messy person" or that it was simply impossible with four kids (which in some regards it is) but deep down inside I really wanted to be able to keep our house clean. Today let's clean together and I'll share about what finally clicked for me!

"Most days, each room is five minutes away from being company ready." My favorite quote. So so exciting to live in a space like that. Congratulations for doing all the hard work that it took to get to this place.

When I was a kid my grandmother would say "A place for everything and everything in its place" It was decades before I finally slapped my forward and said "NOW I get it"

Cleaning is a breeze without excess stuff to have to pick up, move about, clean around etc.! This alone is 100% a benefit of going minimal!

I want to cry watching this because I feel this way... Days of cleaning just to have it all messy again. I bought your workbook and I'm really looking forward to going through it! I'd love to have a life again where I don't feel like I'm cleaning all the time to keep up.

I'm 32 weeks pregnant with our first baby (a girl!) and this channel is the soundtrack to my nesting. Thanks, Dawn. <3

You could purchase a duvet cover for the comforter. You’d get a new look and the cover could be washed regularly in your home machine

Oh my goodness, I am so using that line on kids this summer. "Anyone who comes back inside has to help clean." Love it!!

Love the clip where Tom is longingly looking in the door at you like a sad puppy. 😆 I'm sure he was just talking to you, but he just looks like he wants in on the "fun" in the bathroom cleaning. Thanks for the laughs Tom!! 😉

We are temporarily living with my inlaws while we are home shopping. My father in law was amazed that I fit all four of our clothes into one closet! I'm so glad I have been decluttering these past few years. Still have some areas to address, (my daughters massive stuffed animal collection), but I am working on it always!

Put your comforter out in the sunshine for two full days and it will make a huge difference.

100% agree that less inventory makes it easier to clean. If you have to spend a half hour picking up before you can sweep or vacuum it decreases your likelihood of getting started significantly. A lot of what I used to consider cleaning was actually just tidying up.

You've been a real Godsend in my life. Thanks so much for your gentle guidance and encouragement. It's made a huge difference to me. ❤

"Tom chose to go outside too" 🤣 that made me laugh!! I 100% agree with you. Since decluttering over the past seven months or so, I am at a point now that cleaning is so much more manageable.

Oh, I pull the “come inside and you have to help clean” thing all the time too. In the summer anyway. I think it’s the best “good parent” answer to kids messing up while you’re cleaning. . They’re either getting good sunshine and outdoor play or choosing to help clean and learning that great skill.

I’ve always wanted a self cleaning house. I think decluttering is the closest thing to it! Your house is lovely.

I am a homeschooling mother of 7 children, ages 13 down to 3. Until I found you, and Cas from Clutterbug, I felt completely hopeless in ever truly managing my house. I was embarrassed every time someone came to our door, cleaning for company started a week prior, and my laundry room theoretically had a floor, but I hadn't personally seen it in years. Your videos are an answer to unspoken prayers. Within a month I have completely turned my house around. I still have some work to do and ordered your workbook to help keep me on track, but our house finally feels like a warm and inviting home instead of the chaotic mess it has been. Thank you for this ministry. Thank you for being real, for being honest and for helping me give my family the home they deserve.

I'm getting tougher, yesterday I rounded up everything my grandkids left 3 yrs ago & took it straight to them. Got my sewing supplies off the floor and into that empty shelf space and let out a big "yay me"

I like how genuine you are. You show the real life messes and how you handle them. Which is so relatable to so many people. You make minimalism real and not some picture perfect fantasy that so many minimalist try to portray. Thanks for being real and being you!

I’ve had a cleaning routine for many years. Pick up daily the end of the day and clean one day a week. The day varies as seasons of life change. Once in a while I skip a week now that we are empty nesters. 🥰

I really appreciate that you were wearing two different socks. 😁 I also clean on a as-needed basis. Being full-time working parents of three young kids, most of life is "as-needed".

I'm still reducing inventory...to a point that we're moving to a house more than half the size. I am so excited...just knowing I don't have to have so much stuff. We're empty nester and I wish I'd had you when my kids were small. Life would've been so much less busy and chaotic. Thanks for another great video. I'm still decluttering!!! Yay!
