I feel like the pacific war is a topic that should be covered more often. I love this channel

As a Singaporean, I cannot wait for the Battle of Singapore and hopefully the legendary Lieutenant Adnan gets a mention in it

I find it very cool that someone is finally... FINALLY discussing the brutal Pacific Theater in great detail. Of the two major theaters I always found the Pacific the more fascinating but rarely see much about it.

The comments from Churchill to General Hastings Ismay, his chief military advisor on 19 January 1942 summed up what his plan for the defence of Singapore should be:
“(i) Not only must the defence of Singapore Island be maintained by every means, but the whole island must be fought for until every single unit and every single strong point has been separately destroyed.
(ii) Finally, the city of Singapore must be converted into a citadel and defended to the death. No surrender can be contemplated, and the Commander, Staffs and principal officers are expected to perish at their posts.”

I really wish there was more new media such as video games that covered the pacific war in greater detail specifically from the British Empire's POV like a Call of Duty or Battlefield title where you're playing as either a British, Canadian, Indian or ANZAC soldier fighting to hold on to the last remnants of the empire against the Japanese invasion.

After watching this video, I never realize the bulk of Commonwealth troops are Indians and Australians during Battle of Malaya. I heard of WWII heroes Lt Adnan in Battle of Opium Hill and Lim Bo Seng. This channel and the videos are educational.

I am Indonesian and I studied history of Japanese Invasion of East Indies from elementary to high school. And this documentary shatters all of my knowledge to this point. Great channel!

Ooo thanks. This is way more descriptive and detailed about invasion of Malaya and Singapore than what we were taught in school.

Japan's speed in conquering Southeast Asia is indeed very impressive. although that speed will lose to the great power later. This shows that even Europeans don't want to lose their colonial gems. As a resident of Tarakan I can feel the influence of Japan until now

As a Malaysian, thank you for covering this part of history of my country!

Loved the reference to the potentially eclipsing action of the rising sun against the empire on which the sun never sets

No to be jingoistic, but as an Australian I notice the stark differences between how effective the different countries' militaries were in opposing the Japanese advances. I remember hearing about this from my grandfather (who fought in the war) as a child, but seeing it in documentary form is much more illustrative of the events as they unfolded in a more impartial manner

The early years of the World War 2 in Asia-Pacific is so complex and so underrated, it deserves more attention for sure. Its too important to be left untouched by most.

Would be nice to watch a series of conflict during the early years of Post-World War 2 in Asia-Pacific as well.

This is honestly the coolest series you've ever done. There's something so interesting about multiple campaigns being carried out all in the vicinity of each other simultaneously that don't interact much but also do sometimes.

It's not my favorite topic, but you present it so easily, the maps and animations are great, I watch the whole series! Thanks!!! <3 Waiting for a video about antiquity 😋

Fantastic series. This really illustrates why the Japanese were seen as unstoppable and it makes a lot more sense as to why they didn't occupy Hawaii—they were too busy capturing the rest of the Pacific, which was also closer and contained more resources. Rough to watch, though, knowing what likely happened to all those who surrendered and the civilians who were overrun.

This has been very educational for me. I had no idea that the Japanese had so much success early on in the war.
