The key to Mayer’s tone (aside from dynamics) is focusing on getting your clean tone BIG and powerful while staying clean. A compresor usually does the trick if you don’t have a hi wattage amp. Think along the lines of Hendrix’s tone.

I loved it, great video. I hated Mayer when he first came out, Your Body is a Wonderland was not for me but later when he released Who Did You Think I Was I fell in love with his playing and sound. This was very informative and I'd love to see more like it.

What a great way to present your products. I can´t buy them to be sent to Norway, but I love the enthusiastic way you present any type of gear. Great to see people who love their job. I do love my job too, though I am just running a small factory, but enthusiasm is contagious. Love to see any type of guitar, amps or gear you present. I think john's tone is particularly easy to get. Learn the hendrix muting technique, add a bit of overdrive and a room style reverb, and you're set.
