Whether you love him or hate him, John Mayer has the most popular pedalboard in the world. There are entire websites devoted to the gear he uses, and for good reason! Mayer's pedalboard is filled to the brim with some of the best effects pedals ever made.

Today, I'm taking a look at 5 pedals that have entered the "John Mayer Canon". While they're all mainstays on his board, these pedals are incredible additions to any rig, regardless of what music you play.

Hey Mason!! Thank you so much for the shoutout, I really appreciate that! Great video as well! I have debated "blacking out" my CE-2 for the fun of it and this might make me pull the trigger 😂👌🏻 Cheers dude

JM is one of our generation's best guitarists. And a pedal geek. His collection is humongous.

Yeah- I’ve learned lots from Mayer’s gear. Justin’s channel is kinda like watching some weird kink- I wouldn’t want people to know I watch it, but I secretly find it interesting.

Also the Keely Halo delay is next level. The way it choruses the delays is other worldly and it does a similar thing to having a slight chorus effect without having to use a separate chorus pedal. It will always be on my board 🙌🏻

Wow, Mason! Very interesting topic. Great guitar playing and video editing. Just loved the video! I would like to suggest to transform this into a serie! Thank you!

I don’t know how he does it these days, but a few yeas back in a written interview John Mayer mentioned that he likes to keep his guitar volume rolled back a bit and conversely drives his amp harder. That gives a nice glassiness on rhythm, and he can bring in more snarl later by gunning the guitar volume. I’ve since learned to not have my guitar maxed until I need it

Great analysis and presentation. Super insightful, even beyond just learning from and replicating John Mayer's tone. Great playing, too! You the man. Rock on!

Great video! I saw him live a few weeks ago and his tone was incredible. I’m a JM fanboy but still.

Love that Johnny is keeping Guitar cool. Dont hear much new as far as tones from him though. It's a lot of old made new for a younger generation. Cool with that ! If ya heard and saw Jimi, Stevie, Jerry, Eric its hard to be to excited about the remake. But as a fan of Guitar, Its a great thing ! As always thank you vertex far all the free info.

I tried klon into ts 10 recently and it had such a smooth huge sustain with a strat it was great. Not particularly for me I prefer bluesbreaker in klon but could still appreciate it. But I was counting pedals on my board and 7 out of 13 of my effects are stuff that Mayer has used.

Why do you think higher gain pedals sound better closer to the guitar and stacked this way. I have mine set up the opposite. Would love some pros and cons.
