Bog Turtle for New Jersey State Reptile!

This video features a student-led project that began in Princeton, NJ, for the bog turtle--a critically endangered species--to be recognized as New Jersey's official state reptile. If recognized, this will highlight an animal that has lived in New Jersey for tens of thousands of years, and will not bring new regulations or restrictions. What it will do is teach students across New Jersey how to engage with the democratic process, and raise awareness of New Jersey's natural heritage!
