A recreational fisherman stumbled upon a beached whale at Hoppy's Landing on September 24, 2019, about 8AM.
The Fairhaven Harbormaster, Police and Animal Control rushed to the scene to figure out the almost impossible task to coordinate a rescue of the beached mammal which weighs up to or over one-ton.
IFAW Marine Rescue Task Force members were rushing to the scene from The Cape as of 930AM. The species appeared to be a young minke whale that was still alive but barely moving its horizontal tail fin.
