Easy Honey Bee Feeder from Poultry, Chicken Waterer, Honeybees

Deciding which feeder is best to feed your hive and honeybees with gets confusing. Here is a cheap and easy modification for ordinary chick and poultry waterers that keeps bees from drowning and dying. Chicken waterers are cheap and widely available at most feed and farm supply stores. Converting one for feeding honey bees is easy!

Looks doable & not too complicated. The tiny rocks would have to get cleaned off when refilling.

Hello, I feed hummingbirds using regular hummingbird feeders, but the bees like it to, soooo years ago I bought one similiar to yours only I put clean strips of towels in the water part and in front of the hole that the water comes out from so if empty they won't crawl back in the vessel. Worked good, but had to wash them between changes and refilling. I like your suggestion of the wire mesh and the smooth rocks placed in the drinking water part (bottom) . A swarm of bees took up housekeeping in our 5th wheel via the electric cord hole that was left open and they got in, good thing is it was a void space just for the electric cord, so they were confined just to that area. . My husband bought a hive, hat, smoker and transfered the bees and combs to it to the new hive. The next morning they were carrying some casualties out of the hive and going in and out. We put out a temporary water vessel for them till we can get a 3 gal chic waterer and we sure will use your suggestion. Just check your channel and looks like we will pick up some handy hints.
