Making Bee Feed - Keep it simple

Are you a beekeeper and are struggling with the sugar to water ratio for proper bee syrup feed. Well let’s not over complicate this one.

1:1 = 4lbs sugar : 4lbs of water (1/2 gal)
2:1 = 8lbs sugar : 4lbs of water (1/2 gal)

All is by weight not volume.

The 1:1 you can mix right in the gallon jug. The 2:1 will yield a bit more volume so may not fit in a single jug. But you get the point.

Let’s keep this simple as the bees 🐝 won’t know the difference if you are a little off.

Happy feeding. Happy bees 🐝

Note: feeding bees from a non-nectar based source should NOT be used when harvestable honey supers are present. Feeding is only for bringing a colony back to weight to have proper stores of honey 🍯 for winter.

All sellable honey should be nectar based
