If you're filling a bucket, then why not fill it just straight out of the tap?

Not a reliable way of connecting to any water supply be it high pressure  or just low gravity fed supply.There is a half inch quick connect fitting like the one you have here that fits on to a washing machine valve.
I think it's known as a half inch BSP ( British standard pipe) connection.
Readily available here in Ireland.
Any plumbing trade shop would supply you with something similar
