Weird sound cold start M272 Engine 2009

Starting the engine and this weird sound I do not from where is coming
Change Magnet Tensioner, Belt Tensioner and still getting it, giving me a misfire after on cold days.
Misfire disappear once the engine is hot or turning on and off again.

I had the same issue. Just replaced the oil pickup tube seal and back to normal. Easy fix.

First taping sound is from low oil pressure it could be oring or oil pump second is from chain you need to replace it or atleast the tensioner

Damn… my guess is it could be a weak chain tensioner, or like the chain is scraping again the plastic rail or even the balance shaft gear… but I’m no pro. It’s strange though cause it goes away when it shouldn’t. Hope it was an easy fix.

The o ring in the oil pan broken, that o ring was under the bottom of it.

Bad o ring in oil filter of bottom pan. And oil pressure is low when it is cold.

Hello, have the same issue, I changed all lambda sensor and the canister. Sound really better. Just a little sound now when make a cold start. My English not perfect (I’m French) ML 350 w164

I have this exact same noise every morning I start my 08 e350 4matic wagon. Some mornings is louder sometimes is really quiet. Did anyone figure it out ?

On my 2008 e350 m272 engine i hq e that sound only when my oil level is a bit low. Its driving me crazy. Cant figure it out

Your Idler tension is shaking, Bearing is likely gone.

I have the problem that it takes a lot of time to start when the car its hot/warm near to 90 Celcius... we have changed all the sensors of the engine. fuel pressure is ok and no check engine light, also no error on the scanner.. any help please? its a ml350 w164

Hi, I have seen other vidoes of people having the same issue with the same engine but in a ML350. They replaced the o-ring of the oil pickup tube and the problem was solved.

The o-ring gets brittle and cracks. The oil pump sucks in air which causes this sound. Many said after replacing the o-ring, this issue has been resolved.
