2014 mercedes benz e350 tick tick noise at cold start. valve lifter

It's the Camshaft Adjuster, I just had mine replaced for this exact noise. If you don't fix, it can jar the reluctor wheel on the camshaft setting code, meaning you will need a new camshaft too.

I believe it to be the timing chain. I have a w212 as well with a 3.5l engine that does the same noise, I’m at 160k miles with no mechanical problem the noise is just ugly.

Going to be the one of the cam adjuster, mine had it and had a code for the cam adjuster being off. We replaced and code and noise is gone.

I’m aware you can leave that noise just don’t rev the engine and let it warm up.
