For millions of African Americans, a good education is the ticket to a better future. College opens doors to more career opportunities, higher earnings, and new social connections, among other benefits. Generally, the higher the level of education one completes, the higher their income potential and the lower their chances of unemployment become. There is a direct correlation between educational experience and both an individuals' and a community’s future success. Thus a college degree is very critical for African Americans to build generational wealth as well as closing the wealth gap.

Higher education is a way to make yourself more qualified but it doesn’t guarantee generational wealth. Especially if you had to take loans to receive your higher education degree. It took me 15 years to pay back my student loans and I wouldn’t say my earning potential has grown based off my Bachelor’s degree. It has always been about my contacts and connections. Strictly my personal opinion

I was very surprised that Los Angeles (Baldwin HIlls) was #1. I figured it was in the top five, but not number one.

Wells Fargo CEO was severely criticized publicly for going on record by saying the institution hasn't found enough qualified black talent to fill executive positions! This was a few months ago.

I enjoyed this video. This video is my adult children’s story, 6th or 7 th generation Maryland ⚓️ descendants, residents of Upper Marlboro who like other Maryland young descendants🦀 ⚓️transplanted to Charlotte, NC or Atlanta, after graduating Johnson C. Smith University. My daughter is actually an SGRHO! Many Maryland residents have been sending our children Deep South to be educated. But they don’t come back. The find jobs and build homes and start new roots. My mom’s generation were the Bowie, Morgan, and Coppin HBCU generation of Maryland. The younger generation wanted to attend out of state. The South has great opportunities for young adults.

On the other hand while we surround DC most Maryland residents really don’t visit DC. A large amount of DC natives actually move to Maryland to purchase housing. Maryland residents really don’t visit Washington, DC as some might believe. Most of us are in Annapolis, Baltimore City, or the Maryland Eastern Shore.

Los Angeles CA still has a (relatively large) thriving black population???

That was news to my ears. Shout-out to those brothers and sisters; it can’t be easy living there! I will keep you all in my prayers. 🙏🏾

I didn't think cities like Florissant, Missouri, Jackson, Mississippi and Olympia Fields, Illinois would be on this list. I would think that Dallas or Houston would be on this list.

Hello is it possible to find places for African Americans families to go on the west coast other than California because I’ve been trying to find places out that way and I don’t see anything but southern states
