Wow! People who are on the diametrical opposites of faith can have cordial discussions! There is still hope for academia😂
Good work🎉, hope to hear more such sessions from you.

The crusades are not what most people think i think bart ehrman is wrong to mention the crusades as being something bad the crusades is a very misunderstood part of history

I'm a muslim and i defend the crusades if you want to know what the crusades really were then go to a channel called real crusades history it's scholarly take on what really happened

16:20 there is correction quran does not deny crucifixion it denies jesus’s crucifixion someone might think its one and the same thing but from historical perspective it is not those who witnessed a man on the cross dying all of them thought In fact believed it was Jesus and Quran is saying it was made to appear as such

Bart seems to miss the fact that the majority Christian practice is Catholic/Orthodox. He goes on and on about southern evangelicals, who are a minority viewpoint at best.

Seems that this comments section….is loaded with commenters from the more zealous sectors of a certain religion.

Their comments are…not very honest to say the least.

The inquisition(s) were instituted by governments with certain political agendas, and although it’s certainly true that the Bible was quoted or used to justify some of these politically motivated actions, it’s accurate to state that these persecutions would have happened regardless. Humans will always find a means to justify their actions (even if the source they’re using sometimes is contradicting).

I think those who compare the Bible and the quran don't know what is really both. What we need is to make an objective study about both books.

It would also be interesting to Edify people and tell difference between Christ Jesus Death and Adams Death and to understand it better with our own Deaths.

Bart was here to criticize Christianity. Javad was here to promote Islam

They start a series critically comparing the Bible and Quran with an atheists representing the Bible and a Muslims repressing the Quran? This seems very disingenuous

This guy Javid has little knowledge about Islam and doesn't represent Islam by any means anyways

One thing Judaism, Christian and Muslim GROSSLY overlooked is that Atheist, Agnostic, Historian and Academician were asking an HONEST question and enquiry.

Why not make a discussion about what is the central message of both?

Bible should be compared to books of Hadiths only not against the Quran.
Hadiths are sayings of Prophet Mohammad and Bible contains the sayings of Prophet Jesus (pbu on all Prophets)
Wait... Even hadiths are not comparable to Bible, Why? Simply because 82% of Bible written by Paul who was not even a Prophet.

Jawad, you need to learn more about the Quran.

The Quran has not taken things from the Gospels, it goes against it in most of things stated.
Correct it, and provides correct details ofmany historical aspects mentioned in the Gospels.

I believe true knowledge is gained when one has civilised conversation with someone who has a totally different view or a view against yours these kind of discussions are just simply echo chambers

Javad, I'm just curious, ; are you practicing muslim?

Potentially was a good discussion but on the Bible side, you have a renowned scholar but on the Muslim side, a person with Dr before his name. There not at the same level in their respective disciplines. It would have been an interesting discussion if the Muslim side was able to provide the same calibre of scholar.

The Qur’an was transmitted to us as it is. There is no dark period like the Bible
It was transmitted to us from the Prophet and the Companions in a preserved and written form, so we see manuscripts of the Qur’an in the first century.
It is stated in the Qur’an that whoever crucifies a person other than Christ on the cross will have the appearance of Christ appear on him. God denies in the Qur’an the divinity of Christ and performed miracles at the hands of Christ so that they would confirm his message. He is a prophet like Abraham and Moses, honored by God
