Love this video as an English major!! I'm glad you considered areas where we can utilize our skills despite not directly correlating to a writing path, may I add to viewers that some fields that wouldn't necessarily make as much money but are very rewarding are journalism, technical/science writing (a personal favorite), grant writing, non profit management, and the field of editing!! :)

This is nice video, but very misleading. I wish more of these were actual jobs you could get with *just* an English degree. A lot of these jobs require skills and certifications you don’t earn in a typical English program. I mean, a software developer? Seriously? What English programs teach coding where you’re at?

In most of these, you need business/marketing experience. An English degree isn’t valued anywhere as highly as a degree in the field and most of these jobs require candidates to have relevant degrees, not just any degree.

Technically you could become a doctor with an English degree too- as long as you went to med school afterwards.

Calvin, that was phenomenally fantastic. I applaud your research on what English majors can do career wise. I hold a BA in this field since 2008, I am currently an English teacher for English Language Learners, and it is truly a blessing to see someone like yourself enlightening others on the many career jobs in which they can divulge with the use of such a degree besides teaching. I love this video. I wish I would’ve seen this before deciding on my degree because, most of the jobs that are mentioned require other degrees or experience to supplement those degrees. So having a minor in business marketing would have been great. Overall super informative for students looking into majoring in English and don’t necessarily want to teach. ❤❤

I’m almost done with my English degree but I feel like I’m not doing enough. I want to major in a STEM subject like Biology or ANSC but idk if I should. I’m very unsure about these things. I also feel like I won’t get these jobs or the same pay

I was also wondering if you could give your opinion as an economics major - I have a lot of room to double major and while I was initially going with Biology with an English minor, I was wondering what your thoughts are on an English and Econ double major. I understand they may not compliment each other the best, but I am hoping for job security and a possible advantage with my writing skills over a typical Econ major?

Oh god, I'm honestly so afraid! I always thought I was going to be a doctor, but I started really liking writing and I started sewing 2-3 years ago and I really want to improve both of my skills, but this degree seems to have a lot of contraversy and I'm SO SO SCARED. I KNOW I will work very hard no matter the major I get but, I don't think I would have fun in STEM. If I tried to be a doctor, I would HATE math and med school doesn't sound appealing right now... there are SO MUCH jobs in different majors that could have high-pay but, I just don't know. I'm 16 and I thought I found my calling, but would I thrive? Would people give me a job?

I know choosing a job depends on money and happiness. I want BOTH. They are both a priority in my life because I have had anxiety since second grade when I found out about college. I've been on the tips of my toes since elementary and I just want to be able to relax and not worry about finance and just be happy...
