I Used a Windows Phone for a Week! I Will Miss It.

Windows Phone is dead; however, that doesn't mean it wasn't great.

Windows Mobile 10 was the successor to Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows Phone 7. It was a continued attempt by Microsoft to penetrate the smartphone market. Despite cool handsets like the Nokia Lumia and HP Elite, Microsoft was never able to catch up to iOS vs Android. While we know talk about iOS vs Android, Windows was definitely in the mix around 2010. Why does this exist in 2018? Well it doesn't. Not really, anyways. But I decided to use one regardless for old time's sake.

The thing I missed most about Windows Phone was the keyboard and the amazing autocorrect. Never found one like it since.

I had a Lumia for 3 Years. God I loved that OS. The design was so cool on windows phone. Home Screen, the fonts, dark mode was so gorgeous. Only thing to hate was the store.

The windows Phone keyboard is unbeatable and the only keyboard close to it is the blackberry keyboard

Does anyone remember Cortana that was amazing before Siri and Assistant and even worked offline?

Windows Mobile/Phone was the best OS, if only Microsoft would have supported it more

Speaking of performance. The OS looked great and ran great on low end smartphones. My moms phone has a Snapdragon 400 and 1gb of RAM, and Windows runs flawless and smoth.
Out of the three main OS systems, WP looks the best. Android has tons of widgets but not all of them fit together, because they all have different designs. In Windows everything fits together and looks good.

The main problem that made me switch to iPhone was the lack of apps. I had no problem with the OS.

And as a developer it was a bliss. Building apps that worked on all Windows versions.

I still hope that they can revive the OS again some day.

Apple and Android fans may not like to admit it, but the Windows phone UI was, and still is, the best phone UI ever created. It still had faults, but if MS had managed the app-store 'wasteland' issue better I'd still be using mine today, instead of having had to swap to other phones for the apps. My Lumia 1020 was the only mobile phone I've never wanted to upgrade from after a year or so of use, which to me says it all.

Lots of good ideas from Microsoft, they had everything but a marketing backbone. It's an absolute tragedy that they bailed on this OS.

My Lumia 950 XL is still going strong. The only app I miss not having an update for is Waze. I think Microsoft pulled the plug too soon. It still would win out for those that want productivity from their phone instead of social media. I watched this video and posted this from my phone. I'll be keeping it until the wheels fall off.

One thing that I loved that no one seems to mention is the integration with Cortana. I'm on android now and I never use the assistant. But with the dedicated Cortana button I used it all the time. It's so fast because it's integrated with all the native apps and OS. Google assistant is good but honestly Cortana was ahead of it's time.

WP has the best keyboard I have ever tried. Too bad WP didn’t went off. I loved my Lumia 720. It’s the best OS I have tried if it weren’t for the lack of apps

Man, Windows Phone was the best. I remember when I started with the 520, then I got the 1020 and my last Windows Phone was the Icon :( I'm so torn apart by Windows Phone's Dead. I hope it makes a comeback.
