On the surface, compassion benefits those it is aimed at. If we are compassionate to animals, the animals will benefit. But in reality, we are the first beneficiaries of our compassion for others. This is because allowing ourselves to feel and be guided by compassion generates inner peace and light-hearted joy. Let's be kind to all living beings, for their sake and ours.
