Adventure bikes now account for 25% percentage of all new motorcycles sold in the UK, appealing to the masses of riders jumping off of sports bikes and onto machines with long travel comfort, performance, and refinement. We’ve all heard the term “stack it high and sell them cheap”… and the jewel in BMW’s crown is their ability to stack GS1250’s up high and sell them expensive! But stealing it is no mean feat and KTM have thrown everything behind their very own jewel heist and created something special – This isn’t Adventure – This is Super Adventure!

The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is a mind boggling motorcycle, on 1 hand it’s a long distance armchair of a bike that you could ride round the world on, in the other hand it’s a road going sports bike hunter and then it’s also a Supermoto wheelie machine. The way the bike adapts its ability to master a given type of riding and then shift to another polar opposite discipline is not only incredible, it defies all impressions, logic and physics simultaneously.

We took the KTM Super Adventure on some of the best roads in the Lake District where the Knox HQ is located and then on some of the beautiful trails that we have too! The 1290 Super Adventure S lapped up everything that we could throw at it and is a seriously impressive contender for the Adventure crown!

Hope everyone enjoyed our review on the Super Adventure S! While we try our best to get everything right, sometimes we miss something or make a mistake, particularly on a bike that has so much tech! Turns out that the Adaptive Cruise Control will not work when in Rally mode due to the rear brake being required to control the ACC... So not actually an error on the bike, but a lack of understanding on our part. Anyway, fantastic bike and thoroughly enjoyed our time with it! All the best, Aaron Knox

I own this bike and recently took a trip from San Diego California to Yosemite national Park. I rode the bike around 1300 miles. It went through very hot weather and climbed many of mountains. I never saw anything on the screen indicating any errors. I drove through triple digits through the desert and the radiator was brilliant. At the end of the trip there was no mishaps or problems with the bike! I honestly would say it was Rock solid!! I fell in love with the bike and I must say it handled so well. KTM doesn't have all those problems people say they do. A lot of it's BS. The LC8 engine is best in its class. I own a BMW as well but I would prefer without a doubt riding my KTM. 😊

Holy aspect ratio! The way this was filmed really made the bike pop even more. This was better than the in-house KTM promo videos! It's true with what's on the market now days, I don't understand the appeal to buying a supersport or cruiser. These adventure bikes do BOTH extremely well. I never see myself getting out of this segment.

The one thing I don't like about the BMW is the weird looking sideways engine that sticks out, I'd be afraid that if I crashed the bike the engine would be the first thing to break. Can't bring myself to buy one. This one though, it may be my next bike! Those electrical glitches though, I'd get a new one for sure so I could use the warranty.
