Lesson #10: Data Structure & Schema - Linking records - Scriptology Mastery Course FileMaker

Показать описание
When you decide to keep individual pieces of data stored in their own records and that data needs to pair up with other data then you need to implement a way for records to be linked together. The process of linking two (or more) records together is simply a matter of using a common key across the set of records. In this lesson we'll start to link two records together which represent a work session in our Time tracking database.

Link to the file if you don't want to rebuild from scratch.

Regarding copy/pasting objects across layouts. If you want to guarantee objects are pasted into the same location it was copied from. Do a quick switch from browse mode to layout edit mode (keyboard shortcuts!!) and then paste from keyboard shortcut. This switch seems to reset the active position to the top left of the screen, allowing the paste to use the original objects location dimensions. Where as Matts trick allows you to click and set the paste position of the centered object.

Matt. Your AnyKEY is found twice in the Attendees 2 table and therefore the event shows twice

Thanks for the great series of videos! As a newbie, these are a valuable source of info. I was wondering about the pros and cons of the "type" field as used in this video? It seems more logical to use a Boolean list (checkbox set) with a label "Open" or "Closed". Wouldn't this be more clear to an end user? I apologize if a later video uses this field with a different purpose.
