When my father was alive, he owned the company that made the pretzels sold on the carts and in sports venues. The company still exists in Brooklyn. Marino of Marino’s ices, was a family friend.

Roasted Chestnuts, My iconic snack from the 60's, I'd get off the train and Roasted Chestnuts were my one delight, I'd go sit in a park like Bryant Park and eat a few bags of roasted chestnuts.

New York may be known as one of the great food capitals of the world with Michelin Starred restaurants, but what's great is that everything on this perfect list is completely affordable. Well, a good pastrami on rye is gonna set you back quite a few bucks nowadays but it's SO worth it. I live in the south now and I miss every single one of these food items. You can get a reasonable facsimile for some of them but NYC pizza and bagels can't be duplicated. Good job!

Next time maybe you can include the staple foods that originate from all the places outside of Europe significant to NYC food culture: ramen bowls, samosas, ‘Dominican breakfast’, chopped cheese, Chinese take-out, dhal puri, curries and JAMAICAN BEEF PATTIES to name just a simple few!

Puerto Rican pernil (roast pork) Nathan's hot dogs? Hebrew National hot dogs? Chinese food? Cannoli from Little Italy? Jamaican patties? Egg cream drink? Mr. Softee ice cream? Roasted chestnuts from pushcarts?
Bacalao frito? Mofongo? Pasteles? Morcilla? Relleno de papa? Pulpo escabeche? Arroz con gandules?

I would also add Chinese takeout to the list. I know this is a broad term, and that there are Chinese takeouts in every city, but there's nothing more NYC than going to the corner takeout and ordering up some Lo Mein or spring rolls!

How regretful I feel, for having gone to see this program. Those are my top 10 9 in New York City. I am a native New Yorker, who has live in Florida for 37 years. Those nine foods are my preference.
