Lower Chlorine usage: The Borate helps reduce chlorine usage by eliminating Carbon Dioxide and also by keeping the pH stable. Chlorine lasts longer when the pH is right at 7.6-7.8. When the chlorine is in the ideal range the killing element in chlorine the HOCI is at the most balanced percentage so the chlorine in a pool with a pH of 7.4 is 30% more effective than in a pool with a pH of 8.0. Initial start-up
Before adding Pro Series Boric Acid test water and balance to proper levels. Also, backwash or clean the filter before adding this product. Then add 15 lb of Pro Series Boric Acid per 10,000 gallons of pool water (1.5 lb per 1,000 gallons). Slowly add Pro Series Boric Acid into the pool skimmer with the pump and circulation system on. Allow pool water to circulate for 4-8 hours after application. Do not pour Pro Series Boric Acid into a skimmer if circulation is not evident in the skimmer. Do not directly combine Pro Series Boric Acid with any other product.

Routine Maintenance
Test pool water regularly for pH and sanitizer residual and adjust as necessary. To keep water feeling soft and soothing, maintain a borate residual between 30-35 ppm. Adding 1 lb of Pro Series Boric Acid into 10,000 gallons adds approximately 2 ppm. Twice a year, test pool water for Pro Series Boric Acid and adjust as necessary.

Important
If the water level is significantly reduced or drained and refilled, then water should be tested to determine if additional Pro Series Boric Acid is required. If product addition is necessary, add the product following routine maintenance instructions.

Great. No one tests for borates in Central Florida, including Leslie's, Pinch a Penny, or any of the locally owned shops. When I asked an associate at Leslies if he could test for borates he asked if that was a chemical...

do you add through skimmer ive always added the borates to pool directly and mix up with my power vacuum without bag . i used the borate 99% from dudadiesel

Do CYA levels have a effect on borates?

I was doing really good with the whole borate thing following up your vids and the books from bob then after a month some pools got really cloudy and now the free chlorine wont last 1 day in the water with 50 or 90-100 CYA.
Im getting a lil frustrated because i feel like im wasting a lot of chlorine now 😢

Hi. I ADDED boric acid to my pool a week ago 50ppm. And it taste slightly bitter when I hold water in my mouth for few seconds. Taste really wierd since added. Is it normal or am I doing something wrong, what causes it?
