I maxed out my credit card when I was 19 because my best friends mom was in ICU for weeks and he was staying with me for the duration of her stay until she eventually passed away. I always thought it was disgusting that patients and employees should pay to park at a place that is already nickel and diming their money at every turn. Why should there be ANY payments to park there? Patients and their family don't need the added stress. Employees already spend money inside the hospital multiple times a day on food, drinks, insurance, taxes, and mandatory fundraisers! If you MUST charge, put a small parking fee that can be charged to insurance for the cumulative hospital stay. People are too damn greedy. Hospitals are some of the worst, too.

Not just people but employees as well! I use to work down there and had to pay for parking monthly. It was horrible and wrong. At least let employees park for free.

Husband is a med student at Baylor medical school. He pays 15$ a day to park at the med center…we’re on student loans. Those fees add so much to our debt. It’s sickening and I can’t imagine paying more than 20$ a day to park. That’s 400$-500$ Monthly. That’s food for our children. That’s thousands of dollars of debt added over the course of 4 years.

Hate to say it but ours is a cold every man for himself world. This mindset cares not one whit for anyone's suffering, pain, anxiety, or overall mental challenge. The root, at least here in the US, lies in governance based on money in politics. Hence a healthcare system second to many countries. The world at large is cold and unforgiving. If it wasn't it would do something about the millions upon millions who suffer in it daily. I speak from experience having had to be there daily having lost my daughter to breast cancer over a decade ago. It is what it is.

This makes me sad AND angry, but it's like my grandmother always said, "Even for you to die isn't free. Even for them to dig the ground for your casket costs money."
