Sears would still be in business if they continued their house kits. Those houses are solid & still strong today. I’d definitely buy one!

Many of those homes are still standing and are in good condition. Well done, Sears!

My mother in law has a Sears house.

It’s darling! And built very well.

People find this hard to believe, but Sears was known for their quality. These houses have wonderful curb appeal.

Btw…Amazon is doing the same thing now.

We live in a historic neighborhood on the west coast and most all of the houses are these sears houses.

Yep! We have one in our neighborhood in the Southwest (desert) USA. Still standing, still charming, and still lived in with upgrades for modern electrical needs. It is beautiful and charming! Thank you for the story!

My good friend grew up in one, as did her older sister, born in 1956, in Arizona. My friend moved back in last year to help her dad. I visited her there several months ago. I have been visiting that house since 1973. It's still in great shape. Most of the fixtures, plumbing, lights, kitchen linoleum and cabinets, etc., are still being used and are in great condition.

My great aunt lives in a Sears home in Iowa. My parents home was built from blueprints they got from Better Homes & Gardens.

I have one! It still has part number stickers on the rafters. It’s adorable and I love my little old farmhouse.

I heard and watched a piece on Sunday Morning about a whole subdivision in the Midwest, probably Chicago, where all the homes were Sears-built homes. There were about 12 different floor plans and styles. Materials were shipped by rail. They had beautiful craftsman styles. It is estimated that they are worth little over a million dollars if you possess one in good condition.

My home is a sears home in Maryland. It was added to in the 80sish but the original part from the early 30s is from Sears. My neighbor on each side of me also. *the original sears part is way better build than the 80s add on!

My 1st house was a Sears and robuck house. We remodeled it completely, down to the studs. When we were doing demo we found the cardboard packaging they used to ship it as insulation in the walls. House was Built-in 1934 in an Indiana town about 1.5 hrs out of Chicago. She had and still has great bones!!

I was raised in a Sears and Roebuck kit home. It was a arts and crafts style. It was built around 1910. My parents found the plans when they were cleaning it. The home is located in Portland Oregon. So I wouldn't be surprised if there are alot of the kit homes in the Pacific Northwest as well.

I knew this. Chicagoland had many of these homes and most of them are still standing. I've done service work in so many of these homes that I started to recognize a Sears home from the street.

There’s still a few Sears homes in my neighborhood. Sadly, most have been torn down and new houses built over the decades. They’re pretty cool houses.

Ctaftsmen, were so much better trained and took great pride in their workmanship back then. Today, everything is bought premade. Back then, they built and made their own. I've workedvon one if these Sears homes and they are still well built! Plus great floor plans! I sure wish they made these same homes available today!

I recently moved out of a sears home. There were two on my street side by side. They were so close together and same model and a shared sidewalk my neighbor and I came to the conclusion the original owners must have been related.
