The problem I see with suggesting a newer player add these powerful heat scores to their pre-cons is unless they also have a deck to back up an early Mana Crypt or Smothering, they'll put themselves on everyone's radar to their own detriment. There is inherent risk to stealing power from the table with these cards. Alternative video suggestion: 15 cards you can add to your pre-con that do work under the radar.

Wow. I thought this was an independent channel. But now I see Big Mana has gotten to you…

A decent starting list for a commander player with money to burn. Now let’s see the best 30 cards to acquire that cost $5.00 each, or less. Emphasis on mana rocks and mana dorks.

This list tells me that the boundary between EDH and cEDH is getting fuzzier by the day.

God damn Ikoria Collector's Packs were the best! I opened ONE freaking box and got EVERY triome full art (4 of 5 were foil) 2 fierce Guardianship, 1 deflecting swat, and a ton of other great stuff. And I got a double Mana Crypt Mystery Booster Box! OT for the video! Great list, loved the mix of old and new. Do a top 15 for each color!

Having cards that can compete with reserved list power level is so good for the game. Most of us will never be able to acquire those old cards, we can open, trade or get reprints of the newer ones

It’s like they’re in class and got to pick each other as group partners

I’m glad to see Jake’s kitty battle scars have healed.

Fetches and shocks should be a part of this list. you can build an efficient 3 color manabase without them sure, but adding these in once you have that mana base figured out can really make your deck hum.

Jeska’s Will; Mystical Tutor; Worldy Tutor; Toxic Deluge; Hullbreacher … first three should be in top 15 and last two could round out your list if you made it a top 20.

Zur's Weirding and tefari's puzzle box are the only 2 cards that should always be played.

My signal the clans pile is, Dockside extortionist, gilded drake, this slot is reserved for whatever else I may need at the time and situation.

I always tell new players start with lands start with the most expensive and oldest. Then go to reserve list cards then go into reprintable cards.

Good advice here. If you can afford them, they're costly because they're so good. Immediate power level upgrades incoming. As for me, I was able to acquire a handful of these even cheaper by getting them in foreign languages (since they're so common, players often know the card already) or getting them in heavily played or damaged condition. Rhystic study, Sylvan Library and Mana Crypt especially were like Liquid Schwartz for my decks!
