How I Built the 12' DIY Hammer Subwoofer Box from GSG Audio & Home Theater Gurus

This is my very first DIY project, ever! I wanted to try out a different approach to bass! So I decided to build The Hammer. A flat-pack precision cut by GSG Audio and designed by Home Theater Gurus. With the help of a seasoned DIY builder, Jiles from Home Theater Fanatics, I was able to put together this awesome build with only minimal speed bumps along the way. This is only the build video for the enclosure, the rest of the build will be featured on 8/28 for the third episode of Quest for the Best: Subwoofer Edition. Comment below what project you are currently working on.

The Subwoofer and Amplifier can be purchased via Parts Express.

I had that same sub and amp originally in a sealed enclosure and I blew the amp inside a week. I replaced it with the Dayton SPA500 and have had zero issues since.

Don’t worry about using too much glue. In woodworking, we call it “squeeze out” and it’s a good indicator that all the available surface area is getting glue, which is the most important thing for a reliable bond. Wet glue can be cleaned up with a wet rag/paper towel, and dried excess glue can be scraped off easily with a chisel or whatever sharp implement you have laying around. It can also be sanded off if it’s visible on the outside where you need to do paint or other finishing.
