9:30 ...we realise that there IS a boost function on both the Gocycles... whoops. Guess that means we score them even higher! 👊⚡

Have a Gocycle G4i and I absolutely love it, there is no way back once you ride one. P.s. the boost button.. pull back the left handle which also controls the lights, it's boost as much as you like. Great video btw.

Gocycle also has a boost mode initiated by the left grip, just like the others mentioned.
I also think you should have included the Brompton and Tern Vectron in the comparison.

1000 miles into my G4i ownership. Mine was £3999 when I bought it. Agree about the display. Even though I know it well now (and it does have a speedometer function) I’d sooner just have a digital display and would love a clock. And it does have a boost. Left twist grip down.

Good overview. I've got the earlier Gocycle GX with the manual change which I prefer, as it give me more control. I've used this to commute on done a few thousand miles on it. And as you mention, the geometry feels like a full size bike. Great for that job and easy to clean in bad weather. I save my road bike for the weekends.

I'm confused if I missed something, but Gocycles also have a boost button.

Would be nice to see the Brompton added to this review range in the future

The Gocycle is definitely an icon. i bought it (second hand) as a collector item, but now i use it quiet often. As you can put it on 15, 5 mph instead of 25kmh here in Euroland that's a real bonus! Mrsp is high but wait 'till you get to the servicing and spare parts... On 15, 5 no way you'll get to 50miles, i'm saving to buy a new batt ! i hope the GXi model is a bit bigger. The new model tires with $pecial compound are really/maybe worth it

If they are both 250W 15.5MPH motors then how does the gocycle "get you to work less sweaty" ?

How is the gocycle on hills?

Range - all of these bikes have infinite range, you just keep pedalling. My point is that the only valid range statement from an e-bike manufacturer would be the range without pedalling. Otherwise you can quote any number you like and nobody can argue with it. As for the £5k bike - its a good thing it folds as you wouldn't want to leave it on the street where somebody could chop the chain and ride off with it.

For the price difference, I was expecting a more significant difference in warranty.

Love the comparisons, but it would be nice to have an ongoing ranking of ebikes on a Top Gear style leaderboard.

I would love to see a side-by-side comparison between Gocycle G4 and Tern Vektron. I don't know which model to choose.

I bought a Gocycle second hand as I liked the look and design, still find it annoying not to have a bike display and am expected to use my mobile for that purpose. :( A missed opportunity to include regen to improve range and yes no visual indication for on/off status! Fun to ride but very expensive new as are all Gocycle accessories like lights or a rear rack, the older models do have a boost button of sorts thats there for the american market!

Very well presented video but I’m afraid you’re incorrect with regards to the boost button, you can use this when you are not pedalling it’s known as start assist, and is legal up to 6km/h

I've been looking for my first e-bike, and doing a lot of research. So far I've found 4 e-bikes online with what looks like the same generic frame as the Mirider. The Mirider wheels look like an upgrade on them. Even with a possible battery upgrade, the Mirider should probably retail for around £850; not £1, 595, Ouch!

G4i please if I could afford one. Nice informative video this, thank you.

Is there a detachable trailer for either of these models? That is one addition that is missing from the market currently & could make a massive difference to the utility of a Gocycle or Brompton. Are bike trailers considered too dangerous or a hazard to other road users?

I agree about the wheels. I would also choose the Mirider mg3 with 20 inch wheels. But... if i dont need a foldable, the Tenways that you love would be the winner.
