I ride sidewalks, street, and everything in between, cops very frequently wave at me and say hi. I think they're just happy that im not doing wheelies on the wrong side of the road on a 2 stroke .. we get a lot of that here

Yeah, it's passed time to lobby for new classes beyond 1, 2 3. The technology is ahead of the law. There is a lot of stuff out there that's somewhere in between an ebike and an emotorcycle. There's a huge market for it, and anything that gets people out of cars should be encouraged.

This post is old, but im glad im in FL (for once) in July you can ride any ebike now and it has all the privileges of a regular bicycle. Bike lane, sidewalk and Street are all ok! 👍

A lot of people are making fun of the whole situation, but it really is serious and dangerous to not just the rider, but others as well. I'm glad you made this PSA because these overpowered "e-bikes" are ruining it for everyone that rides legally

I made a 2000 wat e moto. I actually test rode it in-front of house for the first time about a week ago. It looks like a super moto basically a dirt bike with street tires. Obviously illegal because it goes 40 mph at 1/3 throttle. But guess when I was riding a cop pulled me over because I was going to slow over a hill. He didn’t even stop he just wanted to pass me. I wrote all this just to say that electric bikes are so much more quiet than real bikes that cops mostly leave you alone.

Out here in the UK, Riding an electric motorcycle on the cycling lane or footpaths is not allowed. You would need it to be licenced and insured to be ridden on the roads. With an e-bike, it would only be allowed to have a 250w motor, peddle assisted, but if your e-bike doesn't have peddle assisted, it would be classified as a moped not an e-bike.

It’s considered an Emoto and as long as you don’t cut the wire it’s perfectly legal in California

Just because it doesn’t have pedals and it’s not an e-bike doesn’t mean it’s a motorcycle. If you try to register it they will literally tell you it can’t be registered because it’s not a motorcycle. Just like a regular dirt bike isn’t a motorcycle.

I have an actual e bike but with the motor alone it goes like 26 right off at full charge but it has petals and is pretty much a mountain bike with a motor even though in the law it may seem like a dirt bike to everyone other than law people its a normal non dangerous e bike

This guy has to factor this one thing in. Everyone has a set of eyes (two eyes) and you can see things with those. Including cop cars. I understand this is hard to grasp but please understand me
