Spektrum Smart Receiver AS3X Setup Series #1 - Introduction

Join fellow RC enthusiast and Spektrum Technical Director John Adams for our simple to follow setup tutorial series. It is our goal in this series to quickly and simply instruct RC pilots how to setup AS3X on the AR637T.

- Please note - These instructions apply to setting up the AR637T, AR637TA (must be unlocked) AR630, AR631, AR8360T and AR10360T AS3X Safe receiver.

In this first video John covers the compatibility and installation of the AR637T.

Thanks for some great videos! Since this receiver has a di-pole antenna, you didn't mention how it should be installed. There is a lot of controversy on this on the forums. The receiver instructions don't mention it either. Just would like to know what the manufacturer recommends. Thanks!

Hi John. I hope you are well. I have meanwhile 6 sich receivers and LOVE ALL of them! I have mostly replaced the AR636 with the brand new AR637T and love the forward programming and the telemetry features.

Wonderful series John, many thanks. I have ordered the AR630 for a Viper & Avanti so I am so glad you have added the AR630 series to this one (obviously similar but without the telemetry I believe, but cheaper) as i mainly fly scale & love the SAFE mode.

I bought the AR630 and with forward programming its amazing technology and super cool to program on the RX. What I realized is a lot of expertise goes into programming AS3X and safe in Horizons BNF planes. There are so many ways to program it for different planes it isnt for new pilots. My suggestions, watch alot of videos, hook it up and play with it a night or two in the workshop, seeing how different settings effect different things, bring it back to factory defaults and start over. Its a hobby, enjoy the process! Heck maybe even take some notes. This is a complicated piece of the Hobby if you just want to fly there are tons of BNF planes. This is another example of how awesome the hobby has become.

i have a quick question.

i have an spektrum DXe trasmitter wich the spekltrum programer reads when i conect it to the usb programig cable, but i have a eflite reciever, it has 6 channels, and it has 2 lil switches you can select to position 1 and 2

i tried to set it up with the spektrum usb wire, but the programer doesnt recognice the reciever.-

the as3x in it work well in the allirons but the elevator compensates the other way around, meaning, if i climb the as3x will keep it climbing mopre and more, and if im decending the rate increases by the second, making it very very dificult to fly and land.

i checked on the transmiter options, and the elevator is working correclty, meaning not reversed.

but on the as3x apparently the compesation is reversed.

how can i fix this situation?

please help I have tried every tutorial in youtube that i have found, but i cant make the eflite reciever, to be detected by the spektrum programer.

is there a solution to reverse the elevator on the as3x not on the transmitter?

again the servo moves it correctly when i use the transmitter, meaning the elevator is set properly to climb and desend,

but the as3x elevator compesation is going backwards.

i have even tried to fit the reciever in every position possible, but eathe i make the ailerons to compensate correctly and the elevator incorrectly, or backwars, the elevator conmpensating correctly and the ailerons compensating backwards.

Is the637T the only receiver that uses AS3X? I have an AR 630 in my Ultra Slow Stick! Can I get AS3X with this RX?

i bought the AR637T.
AS3x Receiver i bond it to my DX8 gen 2 transmitter it bound fine but when i turn receiver off and back on its in bind mode again flashing light rebind good again till you turn it off whats wrong or is it a faulty receiver.
