Absolutely cracking episode! It's a belter! (I'm imitating Phil but I'm also totally serious.) I just adore this pair of presenters; they're so savvy and empathetic. The family was so down-to-earth and sensible, and most refreshingly, they really seemed to love each other.

Not surprised that they chose to love it. They're no longer on top of each other and they've discovered that their community is a gem. While their home is still compartmentalized and the other house offered much more open space, you have to remember that more space means more time cleaning it. Well done Kirstie and Phil. It's always a pleasure to spend time in your company.

Long drives chauffeuring the kids has a silver lining. When the kids are trapped in the car with you, you can have excellent conversations and real bonding moments. I cherish those times. (But you have to ban cell phones in the car to make this work!)

The original house looked adorable from the outside. The new addition is not doing it for me. The house now looks odd with no charm from the outside. The least they could have done is to match the exterior to the older house.
I wonder how much light has been blocked for the neighbor's house with the new extension. They should have just left mom's house as it was and sold to someone who needed a 2 bed house and moved into a 3 -4 bedrooom house closer to town as hubby wanted.

Very hard to imagine spending that much time and money on her mom's house if the end result is a giant box blocking the front of the house. The addition does not blend with the original house.
While hemmed in on both sides, the original house had charm. Now it looks horrendous.

KIrstie's love of cushions fails to mention what an annoyance they are! Moving cushions to one side before sitting down is the norm. Upholstered furniture is usually contoured to fit humans
and having these extra lumps of cushion all over is just stuff in the way. AND to go further and suggest one keep entire roomfuls in different color palettes to change with the seasons is even harder to follow. WHERE are people expected to store them??

Another aspect is the considerable upheaval, time, and cost of the rebuild, creates dread at the thought of actually now finding another house, moving again, and getting the new house set up to suit them. Defeat?

It still doesn’t work for them as far as location goes…funny word “Location” when you think of who’s hosting this series. And, as kids grow up, and they have activities, friends, and commitments in the area near school, the parents are going to be constantly driving. Uproot one last time and get what everyone needs. The transformation doesn’t capture Mum’s old place, so why not move?

there is a product you spray on the building that will loosen the algae/ moss/lichen, and at the same time loosen the concrete so you can remove more easily

The new build doesn't work with the original house from the outside. Ugly and out of proportion. But inside they made it charming and homely. I did get the Love it choice. But Phil showed bigger and better all the same. Love this show, and Kirstie and Phil. Great hosts and very knowligible, great combo.

The massive new brick structure is charmless. Perhaps, shutters would help it look more cozy and integrated although the interior space makes perfect sense. Much happier family.
