In December 2019, Carlos Ghosn, the former CEO of the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance partook in an escape from Japan that almost resembled what you would see in a blockbuster movie.
With the assistance from an American private-security contractor, Ghosn hid in a musical instrument box, and fled from Japan to Lebanon through Turkey in a private jet, breaking the bail conditions that were imposed on him by the Tokyo court.
In his public statement after the escape, Ghosn made the famous claim that many people still utilize to this day- where he said that he would:
“"no longer be held hostage by a rigged Japanese justice system where guilt is presumed, discrimination is rampant and basic human rights are denied."
So what is this element of the Japanese justice system that made Carlos Ghosn decide to plan out this movie-like escape from the country? Let's find out in this video.
