This temple also dedicated for Lord shiva and also for the legacy of Tamil language.
Some facts about this temple
- The kinda Rocks used to built this temple isn't available within 100 km radius where the temple situated. Hence the rocks are brought from very distant places and used simple water technique to break huge rock figures to portable sizes.
- Size of gopuram, lord Shiva's linga and distance between shiva linga bottom to the normal ground are designed in way that praise the greatness of Tamil alphabet and language.
- On the top of the main gopuram(Tower) an old lady name was written can be seen from eagle point of view or top view. The Old granny used to supply water for all the workers, in remembrance her name was written.
- The top of main gopuram(Tower) contains a heavy rock of 80 tonnes. Till now nobody knows how those workers lifted those giant up.

I did my last 4 yrs of my schooling in Thanjavor. I lived just 1.5 kms away from the temple. Me and my friend used to cycling to temple and do the h.w's some days sitting in the lush green lawns of the temple. Dont k ow why but just I feel a mysterious connection with this temple. Wil always feel some emotions which I cannot express in words. I some times feel that I would have been there during the construction of the temple in my purva janma. Har Har Mahadev.
