It's funny that it's called "DIY", as if before I saw this video I was going out and BUYING melted beer bottles. Now I can melt my own, which is great because I've been going through dozens every day!

As a life long glassblower i can tell you that this is not a good idea, after it has been stretched the glass must be properly annealed or it will be full of stress and tension and could literally explode at any time. especially if sudden temperature change is applied.

Of course I'm going to figging try it at home! I hate that stupid cliche! I'm 61 one and have both eyes and all my fingers and have used dangerous tools and equipment since I was in my teens. I made gunpowder in the basement as a kid and made my own huge firecrackers. I play with high voltage transformers occasionally just to make big neat sparks. Oh and I have a bigger torch than yours and its runs on gasoline!

How long does it actually take when you apply the torch to the bottle for it to get "HOT ENOUGH" TO BEND? Also, can you melt the larger part of the bottle to change its shape? Plus, how many times CAN you melt the glass if you were to make a mistake the first time around? Thanks for any info you can give me - it looks and "sounds" interesting to try.

You didn't explain the necessary annealing step. As soon as the glass hits room temperature it's going to break, you know, going from 4000 degrees to 70 all of a sudden. You have to pop that bottle in a kiln or some styrfoam for 9 hours.
